Neck knife users, whats your favorite?

Becker necker, solid performer.Get a tech loch wear it it on your belt.It is good round the neck low profile for it's profile .

No votes for the SWICK? Well, here's one anyway.

If you use a neck knife, fine. As a matter of course, I wouldn't. I've given these little no-name neck knives to my nieces and have never had the need to carry one myself. They're so small that unless you're grappling with someone, it's just as easy to deploy your EDC. Most men don't have to worry about being abducted, so unless you're an LEO or informant, I don't see the use for most of them. But having one never hurts, I suppose.

Lamont Coombs necker with Kydex sheath. I have a Les Voohries and mykulmorris neckers as well, both very nice. I like neckers:)

+1 for the Coombs. It's small, lightweight, very well made and plenty sharp. I hardly notice it's there and no one would guess it was there either.

There's been some nice knives posted & suggested. I usually carry a neck knife (Along with 1-2 other knives). Personally, I prefer a knife with a finger hole for quick access. Having said that, my 3 favorites are the HAK (The company is apparently questionable these days, so not sure if they're OK to order nowadays), Spyderco SPOT (Unfortunately, discontinued), &/or the Emerson La Griffe (Great knife & you can still get them).

If you like/prefer the more traditional knife handle, I really liked the B/M 210, but I've also noticed some VERY reasonably priced customs by knife makers in the "Makers F/S" section.

I carry a neck knife because it's an easy way to carry an extra knife. I don't use or carry my neck knife as an EDU.

I would definitely recommend stainless steel for a neck knife. I have carried carbon steel neck knives, but they take a little more care to prevent corrosion.

This time of year I am generally bathed in sweat from about 8:00 a.m. on, any time I'm outside, so the carbon steel Gossman PSK had to take a back seat to my AG Russell Woodswalker.

Not all neck knives are intended as weapons, and in a grappling situation sometime it might be easier to get to the neck knife, and sometimes it would be easier to get to a folder.

The first time I ever saw a neck knife was at a survival camp. One of the people attending held his own survival trainings but was there as a student. He had a small neck knife, a single edge drop point, possibly a Livesay Little Pecker or NRGS, or something with a similar profile. He was from the minimalist line of thought for survival equiptment, using only a very small blade.

A couple years later I got a CRKT Stiff Kiss and a Livesay Woo and found neck carry to be pretty handy, though I rarely carry knives that way since I don't like earing things on my neck.

Although I`ve yet to wear one, just wondering what your favorite model might be and why? Large or small, do they get in the way? Are they comfortable?

Thanks for your opinions guys,
Dave

For a neck knife that will be small and very light my recommendation is the Emerson LaGriffe.

The Livesay Woo is good if you can find one. The Little Pecker would be better for utility since it is a drop point and not chisel-ground.

A one-piece neck knife will be lighter than one with handle scales.

I've read good things about neck knives from TOPS, Busse, the Hideaway Knife, Spyderco, etc. but have not used any.

If I were to buy another neck knife I'd get a Fehrman Tru Hiker for a mini-survival knife.

I've heard that the Livesay Woo's are getting hard to find. How much are they selling for nowadays?

I'm looking forward to getting RAT's Izula necker

I have a variety of neck knives from Newt Livesay and a few Arclites. I like all of them.

Agree with XD45. The Izula prototype has been great to me. I'll be getting a production version very shortly after they come out, too, if that tells you anything. The production will probably be even better for neck carry, since it's going to be thinner stock!

I don't like the idea of wearing a knife a couple of inches away from my heart, but IMHO a neck knife would have to:

1) be no more than a single piece of steel 3/16" wide or so (so not too bulky or heavy),
2) 420 or 440A so it's more rust-resistant (due to sweat), and
3) have a foolproof, adjustable kydex sheath. The first time it falls out would be the last time I wore the thing.

And in CA it couldn't be something "readily usable for stabbing" so it couldn't look too nasty.. would have to have a classic knife shape, not a spike or a dagger.

I like the TOPS sparrow hawk. When you wear them for a while you forget they are there until you need them.
