neck knife

I think your best choice would be RAT cutlery Izula knife.

I tend to agree. But also check out the becker necker from Ka-bar/BKT
Also Fehrman (sp) Knives has a stout looking little one.

Hidaway knives has a decent following I think, also check out the emerson la griffe:)

my concern with the la griffe is it looks like if a cop were to ask about it they wouldn't believe me it wasn't for anything illegal.

Don't overlook the Boker Subcom FB. Awesome little necker.

Try the Cold Steel K4 neck knife. It's small, light and will cut like the dickens. Oh, and the price is about twenty-five bucks. If you're going to be using your knife a lot, go for a more expensive premium blade knife that will cut a lot before needing to be resharpened. But if you're going to mostly use it for a backup, the K4 is ideal. It excels in weight, grip, point, cutting ability and price.

If you need something a bit more heavy duty, you might try S&W's little neck/boot knife. It's double-edged, strong and can be made to be very sharp. It's bigger, but it's a nice little combat piece.

One I've used that is small and double-edged is the Meyerco. At five dollars a shot, you can buy a bunch of them. You can get them very sharp and you barely know you've got it around your neck.

All of these are available at Smoky Mountain Knife Works, or eBay. Oh, and Cold Steel has a couple of little knives called the Double Agent that fit well in the hand.

You can get them for about twenty-five bucks apiece on Ebay.

Thank you. I just filled the cart with all of them and 2 meyercos and its only 100.99 with shipping. now i just need to convince my dad that i need them all...

I myself would recommend the RAT Izula or the Becker Necker.

Both are extremely excellent knives, with excellent warranty. High quality 1095 blades and infinitely functional neck knife designs.

I would highly recommend them---they'll easily run under $100, and you could perhaps get both for under this price with a little searching.

I like the K4 from Cold Steel, but the others might be limited in their legality and their utilitarian usage, especially considering that you have to ask a parent for permission, I'm assuming you're a teenage, as I am. Being caught by a law enforcement officer with something like the Double Agent or a twin-edged boot knife would be VERY bad juju. Would your dad go for such combative looking knives? Check out the RAT and the Becker---they can function in defense, function with superiority as cutting TOOLS, and look far less threatening.

Or, to save money, go for the K4---thin blade, good grind, Cold Steel edge, comfortable Kraton handles---all for under thirty dollars. With any of these three, you can't go too wrong.

Check out the Benchmade Activator 210TK...it's small, discreet, and has all the blade you would need for an EDC.

As long as the knife is actualy legal in your area, you are legally carrying it, and you arent doing anything illegal with it...........
theyll get over it.

The thing about defensive knives is that they need not be expensive. The number one factor is reliability, grip and know-how. They don't need to have expensive, premium steel blades and, in the event you ever need to use them defensively, they'll most assuredly be confiscated and never seen again. The Cold Steel K4 will cut as well as any knife with its serrated blade, and Kraton grips will go a long way to keeping the knife in your hand should you ever need it. What you don't want, or need, is someone taking the knife away from you and using it on you, which is where know-how comes in.

If you're a minor, you definitely want to clear all these through your parents. Unfortunately, kids of all ages have never been in greater danger than they are today. Even adults are vulnerable. When I was a reporter for a western Kentucky newspaper, a honeymoon couple just vanished one day from their hotel room. Days later their bodies were found within a few hundred yards of a nearby lake. I never heard of any subsequent arrests, but even if the assailant was arrested, the deed had been done. Yet very few people even think about going places armed these days.

The best defense is being able to sense trouble and to act on your instincts. Knives and guns are only good for when you're backed into a corner and have no other recourse.

I think the answer depends on whether you want a general utility knife always on your person or a last-ditch hideout weapon. I think for SD the lagriffe is hard to beat for its size. Yes, it's small, but it doesn't NEED to be big, hold one and you'll see the grip is outstanding, very solid, it is a mean little mofo. Cops can hassle you for whatever they want but in most states the laws are based on blade length, the lagriffe would probably be OK pretty much everywhere but by all means check your state's laws.

Often overlooked is AG Russells Hunter Scalpel or his Woods Walker with kydex neck sheath. Both good deals for about $20.00 each.
