neck knife

Hey Reeek. I have been looking into pocket fixed blades lately but haven't seen anything appealing in my range. Now I see the Small tiger Knapp and the Snap Knapp. How do you think they would hold up as a work knife?

Along with the Izula and Becker check out the Boker CLB Edit .

other than the fact that it's ugly. Looks really thin... not much to hold onto.

Well, a few cents worth of paracord give you a grip to hold on to. Thin is good for cutting and concealment if desired. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I guess I like that blade profile.

I have been eyeing the hoffman lite hunter from TOPS. Don't know if you could wear it around your neck but I am sure you could figure something out. I have my native rigged up in a concealex sheath around my neck. Works out great.

I think they would work fine. I use the Small Tiger Knapp in my BOB all the time because the BOB I carry it in is really a briefcase type so it's with me everywhere I go. I don't know how to classify the 4140 type steel but I did reprofile mine to a less steep angle for slicing and the steel holds a great edge and touches up easily. No chips so far with some pretty good use such as thick tie wraps and cardboard, etc.

I can tell you the reprofiling I did took a while so I can say the steel is pretty hard.

As for neck knives, I use an AG Russell One-Hand folder w/neck sheath and an AG Russell fixed blade, both serve me well. However, I fly fish a lot so to say they get heavy usage....not! I do know however, in the fixed blade pocket knives area, Bark River makes some really nice little ones!

Thank you. I just filled the cart with all of them and 2 meyercos and its only 100.99 with shipping. now i just need to convince my dad that i need them all...

Seems like you are a minor. You should probably stay from double-edged daggers. Depending on what state, these are illegal for even adults to carry.

Thanks. I'll have to add it to my "to get" list which seems to just keep getting longer and longer. How would you go about storing the snap knapp? Doesn't leather trap moisture?

Good question but I live in Reno and we're a high desrt without a humidity problem (summer averages 20% or so). I have ZERO issues with anything considered corrosion. I keep mine in the sheath in a pocket in the BOB. The knife still looks like the day I got it. I wipe it with a silicone cloth here and there but not often enough. Still nothing here in Reno.

I'm sure there would be more care to do in more humid locations.

Hmm worst case scenario I suppose it could be stored open. What are it's measurements (esp. OAL)? I have looked all over the BHK website.

On mine it's

5.75" OAL
Blade from finger guard to tip = 2.5"
Cutting edge - 2 3/8"
Handle from heel to finger guard = 3 and a big 1/8"

That should just barely fit into a back pocket. I'll definitely be putting this on my list. Thanks for all the information.
