NECKA HAMMER-IN! deadline approaching

It really was a wonderful time. Great demos and even greater conversation. I think we all went home with an added bit of knowlege. Dan, did you get the heat-treat done on the bowie? Mike, the food was absolutely the best. Thanks to all the guys who gave demos and shared their knowlege with us. It was FUN.

Marcel

I'll have the pictures from the first day up sometime this afternoon. My camera got crushed by an anvil the morning of the 2nd day though so my pictures are all on a disposable 35mm camera that I need to get developed. I've got a new digital camera now, but that was 200$ i didn't want to spend yesterday evening =/

...Justin those dang anvils are dang hard on things floating around arnt they.
to bad about the damage , at least you saved the disk..

I have a bunch of pictures I'll add some of those to the web site..

Dan:
Great, I will be waiting for it. Will mail you a disk of the pictures in the morning. Just have to download the images. We really had a wonderful time. I think it would be great if we could get George to do a folder making tutorial.

that's a ton of work for a little Iron , it just shows that people didn't have much else to do back in yesteryear right :D

but really, we take iron and steel today for granted..

that was the EASY part, consolidating the bloom is the real nuisance:D:eek:

Next one I do will be a 100 lb run of ore, the yeild would have been proportionally better if we had actually run it to capacity (but that would have doubled the cost/time etc. which is why I didn't do it) a stack that size should have a capacity of about 100lbs of ore before it chokes.
The bar of iron on my display board took me and 2 strikers about 8 hours to consolidate, and then would take 20 or so hours of cooking to carbeurize into blister steel, now you understand why the Besemer furnace revolutionized the production of steel
