As I've mentioned, Probably alot...I like little fixed blades..I call 'em neckers but basically it's any Fixed blade with a blade of 3 inches or less that can be thrown in a pocket or worn around the neck..I think paired with a large knife you really can't go wrong..I got my little breeden Necker, and I just scored a NIB fallkniven wm1 and am anxiouisly awaiting it's arrival...Also looking into a mini canadian, and a woodswalker... (to favs which got passed along) I know there are some quality ones out there Grossmans, and stompers to name a few as well as the ranger little bird, and some of tops smaller knives.. Just wanted to get some thoughts little fixed blades like these, see how many folks use 'em and see what kinds they use..Any thing relating to neckers is welcome...

I use them, though I don't wear them around my neck. My personal favorite is the Busse Pepper Shaker (2.5" blade). Very handy.

unfortunatly, i dont have any, but i have also been looking in to them. two-fingure-grip ones look really handy, especially with one of those sharoshooter pocket sheaths.

THere are alot of those 2 finger ones..but I've been reluctant as I'm not sure what kind of control the small grip would give you on the blade..

80% of my woods time is spent with a kid backpack on my back which often makes the knife on my belt uncomfortable and inaccessible. For me a knife on my chest makes sense for it's easy access. Also, my boy on my back kind of cancels out any negative perceptions from sheeple encountered on-trail.

I must admit that I rarely carry a knife around the neck. Sometimes in camp, it's kind of convenient, but outside of that, I don't do it much anymore. I will say that I've been carrying a Fallkniven WM1 in a figure-8 (MercHarness) para-cord harness and it's awesome. Discreet, flat carry, comfortable (even with a pack) and you often forget it's there. It's a little larger, but the grip is great as is the convex grind...an excellent little backup blade. Another great option that is less expensive is the Buck Kaala...a great little slicer with a thin profile and razor's edge.

I am kind of jazzed about the wm1...Good slicer?? Rock you got quite a collection there...would you say the kaala and the wm1 are you're favs?? I have the materials to make my first knife it's going to be a necker roachbelly type design with a scandi grind.. (in my head anyway) Just got to figure out how to get started..I almost forgot I also have a blindhorse tiger knapp..Which is a great little blade for the money.. THe handle is a little too thin to be comfy..I'm thinking about wrapping it.

I bought a pair of these last Sept to use as a necker or companion knife or as a small stand alone.

Here are a few more pics (the first two are older pics - Ive since rewrapped the handle)
Stand alone - Tek Lock can be removed and converted to pocket carry or IWB or necker.

I've got a Small Tiger Knapp from BHK, I like it but its a bit prone to rust for my taste(I abuse my shit, what can I say). But all in all, a good slicer.

Where can I get one of those swamp wardens? Their website is kind of pain in the arse to navigate. And whenever I check they never have them.

I think a lot of knives are too big to be worn comfortably around the neck. But this past weekend I wore my Gossman striker knife around my neck in a sheath I made. Used it to dig up mushrooms, cut food and make a fire.

I'm partial to my Gossman PSKjr, but on occasion I take my Proto Rat Cutlery Izula or my BRKT PSK.

The small knife is a Swamp Warden made by Swamp Rat Knives. The last ones I saw for retail sale was at the Oregon Knife Collectors Show in April. Your best bet is to cruise the Busse/SwampRat/ScrapYard for Sale Subforum. You could also post a Want to Buy thread. Some times they show up at that action site for decent prices. I'm sorry I can't give you guys a better resolution to the problem. For what it is worth I kick myself for not grabbing a few more myself when I had the chance. I wish they would make another run of these. The price was great and so far it has been my second favorite small fixed blade ever. I would highly recommend this knife. It came plenty sharp and when the time came to touch it up it was not to tough to resharpen.

It originally came with the small black lanyard but I made my own in team colors to increase the visabilty. The hand wrap I did myself based on one of the wraps in this thread.

I carry a Coombs D2 necker when hiking. I find that it is easy to get to and I feel totally comfortable with the kydex sheath and how secure the blade is. I don't leave home without it.

i am also a fan of neckers and small fixed blades... i find them quite useful in the backcountry and around camp...

here's some of mine...:D give or take a few...

Pitdog that Rat looks even better in "Sewer Green":D Also how does that Buck Diamondback work for you? It's light and very sharp I have noticed. I thought it might be a good "Mora" type knife. Thin sharp profile, light weight and good size. Maybe I can search the forum somehow and find an old review.

...I like little fixed blades............and a woodswalker..............

Speaking of the Woodswalker, I hope to review that one soon. I bought two, figuring it wasn't worth paying $6 to ship a $10 knife, gave one to my wife and kept one. At first, I thought it was a bit oddly shaped - to mak it look cool and I did not like it. Having de-horned, sharpened and used it for a week, I have to admit it is one of the neatest little knives a have owned. I am going to re-handle them with epoxied-on Micarta/brass pins, as the wood slabs have spaces for nasties to accumulate in. It's great in the kitchen as well as an EDC.

BRKT Mikro Canadian and Pro-Scalpel are two more I am stuck on but I could not bring myself to love (or like) the Mini-Canadian. Great blade shape and size, nice overall dimensions but the handle and I were pretty much incompatible. I tried twice with their PSK.

I am kind of jazzed about the wm1...Good slicer?? Rock you got quite a collection there...would you say the kaala and the wm1 are you're favs?? I have the materials to make my first knife it's going to be a necker roachbelly type design with a scandi grind..

I remembered mtnfolk mike and I had very similar tastes in neck-knife-sized knives. The WM1 is my fav for a full-grip neck knife. It's a little bigger than most, but still has that flat profile. Both are good steel and it's probably a moot point between the grinds on this small of a blade (hollow vs. convex), but I prefer the convex. A roachbelly with a scandi sounds like a good combo!
