Need a good chopper!!!!

Well, Himalayan Imports Khukuris have already been brought up. As another option, Valiant trading company offers some nice machete-like blades for a decent price. For example these are $90 and $60 Australian, respectively:

I use the second one as a heavy kindling froe when the weather is nice for backyard fires.

I use this for chopping:

Ok, I know you want it knife-shaped! :p Get a golok then!

It looks like the bk-9 from knifetests was the camillus one. Hasn't kabar changed the steel on those?

Kabar used to buy thier steel (1095) from Camillus, as did several other manufacturers. Kabar still uses 1095, but it goes by the designation Cro-van. I don't remember exactly, but I think Toooj said it's more or less the same steel. That doesn't mean the Camillus BK9 was faulty, only Noss' methods.

I would have to agree that, for the money, the CS Kukri can't be beat. As for the Ontario Machete, BEWARE, I've had to drill out the rivets in TWO different handles that began to work themselves out after very light chopping (banana plants, that are about 97% water). I had better luck with some of the one piece molded Ontario handles. Better yet, just stick with the CS model Kukri. This piece touches up well with a file or even the cheapest of hand held carbide sharpeners.

Yes the old beckers used a different steel, 0176- something, I can't remember exactly.
