• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

need a good folder, needs specified

Your looking for a folder...

I have two recommendations. Ones is the least expensive BEST folder that I've tested/used and abused and I feel it's a must have. It's the Buck 110...$30 at kmart or walmart.

My other folder recommendation is the Benchmade 550HG. It's everything the buck 110 is but much lighter and with a pocket clip. These can be found right around $70. I feel this folder sits at the top of the hill and there's no need to spend more. Yes it's that good and it outcuts the higher priced ritter grip.

Go get one!

I would definitely recommend
Buck 110 and 112
Benchmade griptillians

Both have outstanding locks.

A fixed blade is automatically a "dagger" in Cali?
As far as I know, I have'nt read the law in a while, but last I checked a 4", unconcealed single edge knife with less than 1 1/2" of serrations (if I recall) is legal.

Kalifornia law simply prohibits concealed carry of fixed blades of any size. Open carry is legal, but a large one might still lead to attention from law enforcement, especially if you carry it with attitude. And fixed blades in the passenger compartment of a vehicle are also prohibited. Folders of any size are legal, concealed or not. Some cities have restrictions; for example, the city of Los Angeles has a 3" blade limit.

Switchblades under 2" blade are legal.

It's funny that I can legally carry my .45 concealed (I have a CCW) but I can't carry a 2" fixed blade concealed.

on the other hand, it's fairly unrestrictive. no state limits on folder size nor fixed blade size if it's open carry. Sure, the lack of a fixed blade pccket knife option is silly, but overall it's better than some places I've lived

Switchblades under 2" blade are legal.

Because there is so much bad information floating around, (I'm sure you know this Lambertiana - you sound pretty well read about knife laws) I guess it would be good to clarify that switchbldes under 2" are legal under CA state law,:) but they are still illegal under Federal law regardless of size.
