Need a good knife that's $60 or less!

I gave a guy at work a cheap Chinese folder 3 days ago and he asked me to sharpen it. I told him I wouldn't and that he should get a decent knife instead. $60 is the absolute most he will spend, and he wants something pretty good size. 3.5" or so blade with a full size handle. Similar in size to my Emerson cqc 10. I told him he can't go wrong with Kershaw. USA made and several choices under the $60 mark. I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Well I think you have gotten a lot of very good suggestions, but I thought I would throw this at you. For under $60 you can get 2 Byrd Cara-Caras one for you one for him. Very similar to the Endura, I have the G10 version and its a nice work knife. (Unfortunately it is made in China). Another brute I recommend for about $60 is the Boker Kalashnikov. I have attached a photo of it next to a M.W. Perock and a Spyderco Para 2.

Did not see the previous post guess I was a little late, Oh Well.

Is that the Boker in the middle? That's a big darn knife. I might have to have one.

You could get him a little key ring pry bar so he doesn't use his knife. I have a small Proto/Stanley screw driver for use as a pry bar.

Kershaw, Spyderco are the top two IMHO.
I love my Spyderco native almost as much as my skyline
+1 on the speed bump. Just got mine Friday. Pretty sweet :)

Endura
delica
Izula/izzy 2
skyline
leek
tenacious family
Buck vantage series.
Full size/mini grip.

Cant go wrong with any of these.

I've had them all (except for the tenacious, which i've handled) My favorite is the endura but there all great.
I would suggest showing him all these knives online, having him read some reviews, and if you have a local knife shop, or if you have any of these knives letting them handle them and deciding based on that.

What does he need it for? Edc, food prep, batoning cinder blocks?

Whoops, just reads the entire thread and realized he had made his decision. I hope he enjoys the kershaw.

Great suggestions. I would also throw in the cold steel lawman or ak47. Triad lock is really strong.

+1, I like mines (cara cara 2 in G10). Just be sure to sharpen it before giving it to him which it seems you can.

BTW: why would you not want to sharpen a knife you gave to him? why even bother giving him a knife like that?
