Hey guys I am in the middle of a trade with zeek ( The Chef ) and this is his first trade. We both sent our knives out on Monday. He sent his out through UPS and it arrived today 4 days after he mailed it. Now the knife I sent him even though it was a user was quite exspensive and I have heard way to many horror stories about the big brown turd boxes so I sent mine registered mail and insured it through the USPS. My knife has not reached him yet most likely because the measures are stricter, it has to be held under lock and key and signed for each time it hits a post office.
The Chef is a newer member and this is his first trade so he is very nervous because my knife has not yet shown up. So if you know me from here or another forum please post here or PM The Chef and let him know that I'm a stand up guy ( or if you hate me tell him i'm dirt lol, I hope this is not the case with anyone ).:D

I don't think you have anything to worry about with registered mail. We used to send crypto material through registered mail when I was in the service, it's about the most reliable way to send something short of driving it there yourself. At the very least you will have an ironclad chain of receipts showing that you sent it and where it went missing.

I know lotus1972 from elsewhere and from what I've seen, looks like he is good to go.

Registered mail can take a while and my postal carrier said that Monday is a holiday, so if it doesn't arrive tomorrow, it may show up Tuesday. :)

Thanks guys as usual your help is great.

Just waiting on the mail. Talked to my mail carrier yesterday and she says that 3 to 4 days turns into 7-10 pretty quick with US Mail. I usually only deal with UPS and FedEx since I live on the fringes of society :). Thanks Lotus for the help.

I'm facing the same thing right now on a sale to a guy in Hawaii who hasn't received his knife, but the guy in Canada who I mailed to the same day has.
When dealing with a shipper, be it UPS, USPS, Fedex, etc., you just gotta be ready for the unexpected delays sometimes. I'm sure your deal (and mine) will turn out fine.

Thanks man.

No worries. Chris has been nothing but stand up to deal with, I am only frustrated with the USPS. No wonder they lose more ground to privateer companies daily :)

usps may be somewhat slow but they are priced affordable and are reliable
i have had a few things that were sent ups and the exta charges were ridiculous and then in canada it was a private shipper that carried it in their van for a month before i received it thats after i waited the month it usually takes to receive and then contacting them to locate and it still took that exta month
so for those of you shipping out of the us i recommend you not use ups or dhl

So far I have only done business in the continental US so UPS has been like clockwork for me. I will definitely go Fed Ex for outside the lower 48.

Thanks

I know Chris well, and I don't go out on a limb for many, BUT I will for him! Chris is a man of Honor and his word, I have NO doubt that he will make it right one way OR another, NO worries on his end you have MY word as well:thumbup: This is a man dedicated to the Knife community deal with him in Confidence:D both here and in the future. Sounds as if the PO is just taking a bit longer, Im sure she will turn up and all parties will be pleased.:)

I've had UPS and USPS packages delayed recently that were traveling from the east coast to over here in cali. I believe it was attributable to planes carrying the mail being delayed due to weather conditions. That may be your problem. If so, no matter where you go it'll take a while. The USPS has a contract with FedEx and I believe also with UPS for them to transport their mail by plane.
