Need a new flat platen

I think I bought my platen with three extra pieces of pyro glass for about $70. I'd say making one would be the most fun, and most fulfilling, but the one for $70 comes with a shelf as well so you don't have to rely on just JBweld to secure your glass from the "sheer" forces that a belt would produce. Something to think about if you don't have a mill to make one. I heard of those things exploding (not often, but enough to raise caution) so I wanted to go about it the safest way possible.

I ground on glass for about 2 years. Once I put one of Nathan's platens on my grinder I've never looked back. Not that there isn't a time for glass, and I may do that again one day soon. But his tools are phenomenal. Love them. Money very well spent. :)
So, Nathans platen fit on your esteem?

Well, I have yet to figure that out. :) I will make it fit. I have the rod to make an esteem mount. Just need to figure out how to attach it so it won't spin on me.
I want to fool with a backed belt platen. I already have a rotary platen, but this is a unique setup I want to try.

....OK, I misread that. I just ordered Nathan's C-plate and all the goodies.
But yes, I've been using his radius and flat platens for quite a while now. I made them fit, wasn't that hard, but I didn't really like the mount. Hence part of the driver for my redesigned C Frame for the Esteem. That will be in my hands in two weeks. Freakin can't wait for that! :)

Yeah, I'll be switching my main platen to your design when they are ready, so I'll hold off until I know what I'm dealing with.

Used one of Nathan's flat platens and was very pleased with it. It will wear eventually. I could not find anyone here in Merida (Mexico) to resurface it. So, I installed a piece of fully hardened 3/32" precision ground D2 on an stock steel platen - used Hi-Temp JB Weld with two pins supporting the bottom edge. The hardened D2 as held up better for me than glass. (used D2 because that's what I had)

edit - I have one of Nathan's C-plates, third wheel adapters and three axle sets waiting for me in the US. Looking forward to using them.
