Need Advice on Spyderco Folding Knives

Thank you Remykaze,I see now the tip is fine but a bit thicker than I thought. If the compression lock is a type of liner lock then I have to push one of those tabs to one side? Have looked online and just about everyone is out of stock on Spyderco's Paramilitary 2,I hope situation improves within 1-2 weeks.

Current short list- Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Endura w/FRN
Caly 3.5

Yep. It is machined to fit into a precise cutout in the back of the blade, which means it works like a liner lock in the it is part of the liner, but is ridiculously secure.

I may remove the caly from consideration,it is a great knife with tremendous blade to handle ratio. I have seen though that the handle is the same size as the delica. I can manipulate the delica,it's just not as comfortable as an endura. Looking more and more like PM2. Just hate paying an extra $20 because the knife is in short supply.

Yea but it has a great 50/50 choil so the handle is effective much longer. I would highly suggest going somewhere you can handle all these knives before deciding on one.

the pm2 is that guys beater knife? some people have money to burn.
also, what was he saying about side to side play on the pm2? you pm2 owners, do you have knife play?

Cereal Killer,Sorry I'm one of those weird people that dislike choils. I have simple mind I guess ,handle, blade, much beyond that is too confusing. :)

That's not a beater, THIS is a beater.

As far as the bladeplay is concerned, I wouldn't be concerned with it. I have 4 compression lock spydies and have no blade play. Also, some people are more anal than others when it comes to imperfections on production knives.

Now that's how a knife should look after a hard days work. The more grit and dirty, the better it looks.

i know you dont have it on your list but i highly recommend the spyderco military. i have carried one for quite a few years now. i have tried many knives from many makers and nothing has beat the military for me.

imbryan715,I did consider the military, but I thought it was a little big for what I wanted. That and it appears to be only tip down carry.

Short list -
Spyderco Paramilitary,plain no coating
Endura 4 and whittle my own darn G10
Manix 2 S30V ( I still think it's a great looking knife)

tip down carry honestly works best for the military because of its length. that being said the military really does shrink over time. it does not seem like a huge knife after a little while. you really should try a military. i far prefer it over the paramilitary and the manix 2.
