This is NOT a sale thread first off! But I am in need of some funds and not working steady for the last 5-6 weeks has put a damper on my Bank account...gotta love knee surgery....I am trying to let go of some less precious blades, but would like to hold onto my "Grave Blades"

The FBM Proto I know will sell, but I don't want to let it go and break the set.

What should I do?

Keep my fingers crossed and wait for steady work?
Sell it and be in the green?
Keep thinning out the non-grave blade?
Whore myself out to the street corner;)?

I need some unbiased opinions, thoughts, ideas.......winning lotto numbers.......

Ummmm... deposit the insurance check for your truck and don't spend it at blade west???
Just a thought. :p

Oh... and sell me the red FBM Proto too. :D :D :D ;)

If you are in need of mone and need to sell, I would start with knives that the most easy to replace, then if needed, move in the direction of the hardest to replace. Even though the easy to replace ones will probably bring less money, you will have a chance down the road to get similar ones. If you sell the rare ones, you might not find another to buy at any price. I look at knife collecting as basically a luxury, I don't need them to live, but they make living more fun!

Whorin' yourself out will be the quickest cash. I hear the ladies go nuts for Spartans in loin-cloths:D. Hope you find a job soon. I'll be in the same boat soon.

This question made me think of a Jake Blues quote:

[to man in restaurant]
Jake: [fakes accent] How much for the little girl? How much for the women?
Father: What?
Jake: Your women. I want to buy your women. The little girl, your daughters... sell them to me. Sell me your children.

Let them go knowing the next coolest thing is being made in the shop right now!

Bro, that proto set is like money in the bank...

Spend your insurance money now, keep the protos "in the bank." If you see something you have to have at Knob Creek, you know you can sell the proto / protos when you get home.

When it's all said and done, all you NEED is one proto anyway. Having the set is just bragging rights. So don't sweat it too bad either way. You should see the ups and downs of my poor collection over the last year or two. Easy come, easy go. C'est la Vie, or something like that... Definitely don't lose any sleep over it!

I love that scene. :D

Send me a complete list of what you have. I will be happy to advise which you should sell.

First of all keep the users that "Talk" to your hand, even if they are otherwise easily replacable.

Every Busse knife is at least a little different from the rest, do not let go of user knives that you like, you just might not like the replacment knife nearly as well.

After that, Do What Randucci Says.

Jason,
I would echo what Tim (Randucci) has already said, but with a slight modification--sell the easy-to-obtain safe queens if you have any, not the users. The reason is that you like to use your knives. If all you have are safe queens sitting around, I think you will be most unhappy, bro.

Good luck!

I'd suggest selling some of those smaller EDC's :p who needs more than one of THOSE when you've got BM's :D

Yeah, what he said, you don't need the small ones:rolleyes:

Really though, I would keep the proto.

Those slick talking Wauseonians always talk me into more than I need......they are just that good! One of those Satin Crash Rats might go....it's "Almost" EDC size...if you live in the mountains?!

family comes first.

sell what will bring the largest profit margin in the shortest time. anything in the 300-500 range will probably sell quickly (ie, fbm's, badgers, sh's, etc). the rarer straight handle and proto stuff might take longer to sell.

but, like aaronjayl, sell everything if you have to. when finances are more disposable, start collecting again.
