lol, I sure wish I would have remembered that before posting all of this. But at the same time, the bow didn't show up until it had been in the freezer. So in a way I suppose the question still stands... maybe.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. I am convinced that dropping the knife in the quench tank is where I went wrong. Should anything like this happen again - without a dropped knife in quench - I'll ask about it again. But for now, I think we've figured it out.
