Need help for edc altoids tin blade

I only carry mints in my Altoids tins, and this requires violating my "never recommend SOG" rule, but you should check out the Access Card 2.0. Big, useful knife open and leaves most of the can free for other stuff.

It's so thin it leaves most of the space free, even though it's a big knife:

^^what knife is that?

And I think a SAK would be in your best interest for an EDC/FAK or maybe a leatherman juice if it would fit I don't have one so I couldn't tell ya.

Evilgreg's recommendation is precisely the knife I would place in an Altoids can for a kit. The SOG Access Card 2.0 is a pretty good knife. I own one and it fits perfectly.

Many of the small SAKs will fit insde an Altoids can. I have never been much of a fan of the Classic, but it would work. It is just not much of a knife in terms of cutting anything beyond opening letters or similar tasks. The slightly larger Cadet or Recruit will also fit inside the Altoids can at 3.25" closed. I do like the toothpick and tweezers though and it certainly is a lot less expensive than the SOG Access Card 2.0. If this was my choice, I would just place it on my key ring and not place it in the Altoids can.

The SOG would work very well for your application. Excellent steel also with VG-10.

You can buy very small utility knives at Lowe's that will fit in there. They are just kind of thick.

Bought this knife from a man making knives made from old files for just that purpose. Simple is almost always the best solution.

I don't have an Altoids tin to try it with, but judging by that SOG, a SAK Alox Cadet would be a good fit.

I say +1 on a SAK, hard to beat for a few good quality tools in a small package.

I don't generally care for TOPS but that Access Card seems perfect for that space. How comfortable is it to use given how thin it is?

The SOG Access Card 2.0 is pretty comfortable overall for a metal handled knife. I would not want to do and serious cutting to any great extent but it is very sharp and very thin and compact. I keep mine on my desk for the most part. Haven't cut any trees down with it just yet and I've had it for a couple years. :D I feel the same way about the Kabar Becker neck knives. Okay for light cutting, but not for serious stuff unless you install handles on them.

Thx guys...but do you think a Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD Pocket Knife would fit and be appropriate?

The SAK cadet has a bit too much dept so I don't think that can fit

Thx guys...but do you think a Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD Pocket Knife would fit and be appropriate?

and btw...heres what I'm planning to put in my tin

-flat whistle
-floss - no
-mini flashlight - it's getting cramped in there already
-peanut lighter
-water purification tablets - no
-wind proof birthday candle - no
-waterproof matches +
-pill container - hmm, almost no room left at this point
-multi-tool - then why add a knife?
-band aid(s) plural, what would you do with "a" band aid if it got wet or ruined?
-first aid materials (you must have a huge altoids tin)
-paper clip
-safety pin
-mini pocket knife
-mini compass
-tinder
-magnifying glass
-tape
-rubber band
-razor blade
-mini mirror
-sewing kit
-ferro rod
Good luck stuffing all that into that little tin. Half of that stuff is not even necessary to being with, or should be held in a different style "kit". Why a multitool and a knife and a razor blade? Tinder? You can simply cut off a part of your shirt and use that to get a fire going. A single band aid? What if you drop it on the ground?

I have a few more of my little altoids knives for sale if you're interested. Very comfortable design with alot of blade/edge to work with. Around your price point, and entirely handmade by me. Let me know of you're interested.
