Need help: Missing Hiker on Appalachian Trail in VA

I am curious read what Ken will have to say after the dust clears. In situations like this it is always important to do a root cause analysis so that this situation does not happen again to him or another hiker for that matter. A little discussion in this vein, without judgement is a good thing.

it seems like hes getting slack for being disabled. You hear about people going missing all the time even experienced guys. If it was a boy scout or something who let a smoke fire get out of control but was found i dont think it would be as big of a deal. Im glad he survived and i think people need to just back off until all the facts come out. not that anyone here said anything but the quotes from the article and other websites kinda got me a little upset.

From what I have read, it was just a brush fire, right? I don't think the dissenters realize what a brush fire is or that the forestry service starts them on purpose all the time to keep the forest healthy.
