Need help on deciding on a spyderco please

To me the PM3 looks a bit goofy. Maybe I'm biased because of the PM2 or maybe because it looks so similar the differences "pop" so to speak, but I just don't feel the need to own one. Maybe if I handled one that would change.

IMO the PM2 is a perfect combination of construction, material and size...
I don't have much interest in changing anything in it

Shall I go for something smaller I will look for a different platform
The Delica has a à lighter construction that match the purpose of this kind of EDC

A Delica with a Boomer52 Lil' Para mod and G10 scales. Pick up a deep carry clip from Casey Lynch or MXG Gear.

I am going to go for the one everyone has been overlooking and say Spyderco Techno. Perfect little knife.

Did they fix the problems with the bearings destroying the washers on the Mantras, Advocate, and I heard Dominos too.

Mantra is worth a serious look. Ti flipper with wire clip and Delica-like aesthetics.

Sage series or chaparral. Chap for a slicier option, sage for more common of a blade thickness. I would highly NOT recommend the para 3 unless you buy an aftermarket clip as it is the exact opposite of deep carry.

Most of the wire clip spydercos carry deep. The casey lynch deep carry clips can be applied to many of the knives to deep carry.

Well the delica, mantra, manix and chaparral are the ones im looking at now. What can you guys tell me about the manix? Does it have washer issues?

Yup, for thin and light, definitely the Chaparral or Sage....with the deep ride wire clip. What a great combination.

The Para 3 is in between but its not a deep carry. Only like 3 actually Spyderco models have deep carry pocket clips. Most of the deep carry clips you see on Spyderco knives are from 3rd parties. The Sage has a good pocket clip and fits those requirements so I'd try that

Delica
It is my pick, I have removed the pocket clip and carry it tossed in my pocket with a small lanyard. The bidirectional FRN handle is great
I have a vg10 version
It like to because it is small light and not so expensive

Manix
Great value knife. I never really dig into it however
Maybe the ball lock mechanism remind me an axis lock and a mini griptilian...

Chaparral
So goood locking knife!
Compact, with a finger choil (I like that), good steel, classy design only the price kept me away from it
The handle is shorter than on a Delica, it can be good or bad depending for what you use your knife for

Sage
I have a PM2 and a Delica but shall I have only one it will be a Sage, a 1 or a 5
Deep carry wire clip, good EDC steel, utilitarian leaf shape blade, different locking mechanism available....

Yeah, love my para3 but deep carry it is not, and its pretty chunky in the pocket. I'd be looking at a native 5LW, should tick all the boxes but still in the easy budget range and easy enough to move if the buyers remorse kicks in.

I can't speak for any washer issues, none of my Spydies ever had that problem, but a Manix is pretty large. Comparable to the PM2, but even heavier. It's like the hard use bigger brother to the Sage. I've handled one but, I've never owned one so I can't speak to pocket-ability.

With the knives you've picked so far it'll start to depend on how much you want to spend. The Delica will be the cheapest with the lower end steel and handle. But usability is off the charts. You can never go wrong with Delica. If you're lucky you could try to find a sprint run model with better steel.

My only complaint with my Sage 5 is that it only comes with CPM S30V. It's a great all around steel, sharpens easy enough and keeps its edge, but it's run of the mill stuff nowadays. I'm not 100% sure what the Chaparral comes with. S30V is well above VG-10. The carbon fiber/G10 scales on the Sage 5 are pretty interesting too. They almost remind me of a river stone-type feel. I believe the Sage 1 had a smoother feel to them. Both the Sage and Chap are almost double what a Delica will run you, granted you grab a baseline model.

I think whichever way you go you'll be happy.
