need help picking new folder

Emerson knives are great folders. Many blades styles to select from. However. they are only chisle ground.

The Emerson Commander is the folder that I choose to carry for my EDC. The Wave feature makes the knife act as an automatic.

I have an older Microtech M-SOCOM in 154CM, and it's a pretty decent knife. Smooth as butter, and very compact. If price is the main issue, one of the Spydie's would be a good bet, in a decent steel. Have had VG10 & S30V in different blades, preffer the S30V myself. Also keep a Browning 440C unit and a Cold Steel older Voyager (plastic moulded on belt clip) in the loop. Nice steel on the Browning, but that Voyager leaves a bit to be desired.

Now if Jerry would only get that pesky folder into production...........?????............Pulease?!?!?

I just got a Reeves small classic with micarta & serrations. Very nice:thumbup:

On the sebenza- the s30v got some bad press [unwarented as most new steels get some bad press] at first for micro-chipping, which I don't think you can even see with a magnifying glass. Some think was the hardness of 60-61 may cause this. Chris helped Crucible come up with this steel and only hardens his to 57-58, less on his bigger blades little more on the folders as there not made for hard chopping, but all under 60.
I have had no prob with mine and if you did have one chip they will fix it free.
Unless your using edge to pry open old paint cans.

regarding your post#19 john

I'll also throw in a 'yea' for the 'benza. If you are not keen on S30V you can seek out an older BG-42 blade. I carry a small classic BG-42 EDC at the office. It has a pretty strong following, so it might be a bit more difficult to find.

Another option is the Benchmade Axis lock series. I have a 710 combo edge that serves as a nice beater. I can flick it open almost as quick as an auto.

Whatever you chose, I'm sure you'll be back in 'two weeks' for the Busse folder. :D ;)

My folder is a Schrade Lake-Walker limited production model 1 of 500with a plain BG42 blade . Framelock but only problem is the framelock is made of Zytel lined with steel. Works really well and love the blade style, like a semi wharncliff.Plan to change the locking side with titanium(STR).I like it better than my CRK, quite frankly.
