Hello all

yesterday received my new SNG from the man himself and right out of the box blade has a vertical play when it’s folded kinda like fold is incomplete and when u press down the blade it makes clicking noise.( while folded)
I have other blades and SMF too and non of them has the same issue.
Is this something I should be worried about? I am gonna insert the video so u guys can see exactly what I mean
Thanks a lot in advance !!!

Is the blade going past the detent and hitting the handle? Or is it detent play only?
Looks like the blade is going past the detent hole and hitting the edge on the inside of the handle. If that’s the case, it needs to be fixed.

You'll have better luck PMing Josh Lee or Marisa Strider on Facebook or IG than you will sending them an email IMHO.

First of all, I'm very sorry about the experience you're having with your new knife. :oops:
That's a nasty feeling when you carefully, joyfully open the box and pull out your beautiful new knife:):) and then:eek:
your gut sinks, throat tightens, and temples pound when you find a serious and inexcusable defect. :mad::(:mad::(:thumbsdown::mad::confused::mad::(:(:(

I have not heard good things about Strider and this further solidifies those things in my mind.
Thank you for sharing. It isn't too late for redemption I suppose.
I truly hope they take care of you and make things right.

Please keep us posted and good luck!:)

What?!?!? A Strider with blade play?!?!?

the more shocking part of this post is that you are surprised....I'm not. Personally I would recommend selling it while they still have value and buy something reliable from someone reputable.

If it's made like the G10 ones the contact would be between the sharpening choil and the handle IIRC. Not directly on the edge.

Thank you guys again much appreciated!
Yes I am kinda disappointed but S**t can happen I guess. Like I said received knife yesterday and emailed them in about an hour so after I got it.It’s been like 24 hours and I am gonna give them a time to respond and at this point I don’t even have other options, can’t return it coz I don’t have a MRA number ( which I have to get from them ) and selling to someone else is out of question, if the knife is defective , just can’t do that so all I have to do is wait and hope they will see my email or txt on there instagram accounts ‍♂️

And usually does with Strider in general. Do a "Strider" search on here. Good luck with your getting your knife fixed.--KV

How so? I find the actual cutting edge of the blade to be very small compared to the overall length of the knife.
I’m not sure how that matters in the function of a knife. As far as the design (integral backspacer to the g10 handle slab, Chicago fasteners, in-blade stop pin, flared handle, large finger choil, single arc blade profile, full flat grind, ect...) there’s not been a better knife design IMO. The fit and finish was always lacking from gen 1 through gen 5 but is, IMO, overshadowed by the other attributes. The value went out the door for me when they became collectors items. A used SnG is “worth” $350. They were priced well at ~new from dealer for a Gen 5 SnG~ at $425. But it was always a gamble on F&F. Blade to handle ratio is no concern except among nitpicks of minor OCD. After all, one of the most useful knives ever made is the exceptional Stanley 99E.

Good or bad is open to opinion. It allows for a lot of torque on the blade and with the choil a lot of control, but you do give up blade length. Do to the handle materials chosen it is a very light knife for it's size. Not for everyone, but it does have some unique qualities not found elsewhere and makes a great EDC.
At present I am carrying a lighter thinner ground EDC, but will always have a fondness for the SnG design.

Why can't you return it to the person you bought it from? It came defective.

I’m not sure how that matters in the function of a knife.

Well if it only has a 3" cutting edge but a 3.5" blade, then I could just get an actual 3" blade that has a smaller handle and is lighter. Or maybe I'm cutting things quickly and I don't want it binding up or getting caught on the multiple choils. Or maybe I actually want or need the longer blade edge.

Update:
Got in touch with Josh on Instagram and will send them knife tomorrow to fix it .they will refund the shipping cost .
Thank u guys really appreciate your help and advice!!!
U guys rock !

^ :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I had no doubt reading down this thread, that this you'd be posting this update. Good luck!

I look forward to the day that SnGs become regular production (& G10 slab/backspacer) again. It’s one of the best designs ever made.

I concur! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I just spoke with Josh today. They're about a week out, on a new run of really cool looking SnG Tanto's, they're building for the Shot Show in Vegas.

FWIW: I'm really surprised that this most recent release of the 3/4 ground aluminum SnG's, have had any issues. Ever since Mick & DD went in different directions, the quality of the M. Strider line, has been superb! I've yet to have a single issue, with over the dozen or so I've purchased. The fit and finish has been spot on, without any issue whatsoever.

Their customer service, is unsurpassed- always has been! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

It's good to hear they'll make it right, I have to reach out to them myself. Just got my PT from the new drop, arrived with front to back blade play and iffy lockup. Should have never been shipped out.
