Need help with new strider SNG

+1
I own quite a few Strider's, & up until reading this thread, I too had never done, nor felt the need to do this kind of blade test before (with the blade was in it's closed seated position). A solid lock up when I'm using a knife, is what's most important to me.

^ Technically speaking, you are absolutely correct.

The Las Vegas Shot Show, & the Las Vegas Custom Knife Show, are entirely different shows. The Las Vegas Custom Knife Show, falls right on the heels of the LVSS, however, many gun/knife people, go to both shows. It's just become convenient for many in the knife hobby, to refer to the LVCKS, as the Shot Show (I do anyway).

I stand corrected. :) But that SnG Orange Lego/black Tanto (pictured), was purchased at the LVCKS, just last month.

Seriously, please stop posting. You're an embarrassment.

You lie just like Strider. No wonder you are cool with his stolen valor.

I just picked up this Strider .75 AR Titanium from their most recent drop, yesterday, over at the Strider shop. :) The hand ground S35VN blade, & the fit & finish/quality of this blade, is superb!:thumbsup:

This if my very first AR model. I really dig the ergonomics & grind on this blade, & highly recommend giving this model a try!

Markings aside, if you’d have told me that was a Medford, I would have believed you

^ That's too funny! This was actually one of the first thoughts I had, as well. I've also owned/own a few Medford's, but I personally like the ergo's, action & blade grind on this AR, more than any of those.

I loved the SnG I had. Loved the ergos. Despite the man being a prick, he had a hell of a knife. Sold mine to pay some bills 5 or so years ago. However, the only strider design I'd consider now are the Pro-Tech ones.

I had a strider SNG many years ago before I had read up on Mick’s shenanigans. I bought it used with terrible vertical blade play (that the seller did not disclose but I won’t go into that here). Since I live a couple hours from them I drove it down there myself and they fixed it and sharpened it on the spot which was cool to watch. After a few months of use it got lock rock. I then sent it back to them, they fixed it again and I sold it off. All these years later I still hear complaints of lock issues and I can’t understand why anyone would purchase a knife the maker can’t seem to get right. Opinions of Burger’s character aside, I just don’t get it.

That's what I'm saying. I haven't purchased one, but I don't feel I need to just to what it's all about.
Far too many people report having serious problems with them for me to even chance it.

It's just shocking that they've been making the same couple of designs for close to (more than?) 20 years now, and they just can't get it right. Goes to show that it really is all about the "story" and marketing, not actually making a good knife for their customers.

The same character flaws that lead to stolen valor show themselves in a business that can't get their only product right, and can't take care of their customers.

It's because people are hoping that SEAL Delta Ranger Pistolero operator street cred superpowers (like Mogadishu Mick claimed to have) would rub off on them. Too bad it was all a lie, because Mickey Ray Burger is a lying scumbag.

Are you saying that you like these atrocious rough grinds (grit 100 ?) ?

So why do people keep saying strider is one of the big 3 with hinderer and Chris reeve? After reading that story I would never consider a strider and don't understand anyone who would. My brother was a marine, and had been to Mogadishu, among other places, and that just pisses me off that strider tries to act like he actually did anything.

And they can't even make a knife correctly considering all the lock problems I've read about. I'll stick to my ZTs, spydercos, and Benchmades (my big 3? Lol)

I'd be willing to bet they made a few good rounds of knives or made a few good knives for the right people to get the marketing up
and then for regular ole customers like civilians just buying from them the store or internet they didn't do nearly as good a job producing
the knife to cut time and make more money.

Like a custom compared to a midtech or production model but in a really dishonest way.

It although seems you can fool a lot of people for a long time...
