need help with Scott Cook

He's already got there.

This is not the only complaint on this forum. He's also using the same excuses as the others "health issues" "major problem with my IP/website/email". Pretty soon he'll have a car wreck, kill off a family memeber and when it gets really bad, his wife will divorce him taking his shop. But he'll have all those deposits.

Has anyone ever tried "my dog ate your knife?" :D

Hey, these shop dogs were raised on hot steel!

No one should feel good about being cynical. Scott Cook came out of Chris Reeve's shop, he was his shop foreman, I believe. But time and money wear down many men.

We have knifemakers who won't take orders at all, they have no fixed list of models they make. They constantly experiment, innovate, and enjoy what they do. Once the knife is done, it can go up for sale.

Choose your own path and if it doesn't take you where you want to be, choose another. Every businessman should have the same goal: keeping his customers satisfied. If you can't do that, pay off your debts and find another business.

The frustrating thing is the high demand Scott has for the Lochsa--seemingly such a high demand that there are plenty of folks willing to put up with his hullaballoo just for a chance at a Lochsa. Some of his decorated models go on his "bench auction" for thousands of dollars. It seems as though he feels justified in poor business practices because the buyers keep on coming.

My Lochsa is back. Scott did a great job and it looks like new. I wish it had been quicker & with better communication, but I don't know all the facts.

I know this may not be popular here but I am putting my hand up to say Scott Cook is a man of integrity. I have had a couple of purchases with him in the past and both went flawlessly. I know the people who ponied up $900 were obviously concerned as I would have been too.

If he said he had health issues and computer problems, who are we to doubt him? For the record, I now have three HD back up drives on my own biz system. Has no one else had a string of poor health or lost all their Data because of a dead HDD?

From the owner of six Lochsa's and two Owyhee's.

quick update:
the knife arrived on Monday.

with regards to Mr. Cook's integrity, I am not one to judge a person, just their actions. My experience with Mr. Cook was way less than optimal, which is unfortunate because I was really looking forward to this knife. At this point, I am soured on it...
Opened the box, took a look at it(nice knife), now I'm gonna sell it.

If I'm going to carry a custom knife, it's going to be one from a maker I respect......

If Scott gets 50 phone calls a day, probably 49 of them are along the line of placing an order or asking about the status of an order. Very few people call and say "Hey Scott, want to go out for a beer/movie whatever?" If he goes to a knife show, he is accosted before he can enter the room and the few Lochsas he's brought with him are sold before he can set up his table. He then gets to see some of these being sold at two or three times what he's just sold them for.
I would be a little unsocial too.
Bottom line if you want a Lochsa, your likely to have to wait.:)

provides excellent customer service

Hopefully doubling your money will ease the pain.

Nah, he should really stick it to him and sell it for half off. I'll take it! :D

Seriously though, that does suck you've had such a bad experience. Hopefully it's just an isolated incident. I've recently decided I need a Lochsa in my life and want to know the guy that made it isn't a jerk.

Couldn't agree more. For the longest time, I really wanted a _______. Ultimately, though, I discovered the maker (___ _______) was a huge jerk. That discovery left me with absolutely no interest in his product. In fact, it led me to tell others about my experience.

Well looks like we're done here. No sense in dog piling on Scott as he isn't even here to defend himself. Love it or hate it, the man makes one of the finest cutting tools available today, period. Funny thing about stating that you don't judge a person, just their actions. Is there a difference in your mind? Because there isn't really one. People are human and they make mistakes, I'd hope the rest of his customers are less petty.
