i've ordered a baldric from ksf made by sharpshooter. the rig will be my brkt golok and a mikro canadian II piggy backed and carried on the baldric. i'm looking for sources of leather pouches to carry just the essentials (firesteel, some tinder and a sak of some sort).

it'd be nice if it looked something like this,

getimg.cfm

but the price tag on the ray mears one is a bit ridiculous.

local sources would be great (vancouver area), but online would be just as good.

thanks guys

Depending on what you want exactly, Boomstick might be able to help you out. He's here on BF. Or mtnfolk mike.

thanks for the advice guys

leather magazine pouches look like they're going to fit the bill. the possibles bags are a bit bigger then i am looking for.

anyone else got some more advice?

i appreciate the generosity man, but i just called a local gun shop and they have something like what i'm lookin for. thanks again though, i'll go take a look at it first and if all else fails i'll give ya a shout. again thanks for the great generosity.

i have to say people on the the W&SS subforum are some of the most generous. :)

which gun shop jca21? i'm having a hard time finding decent leather stuff here too.....

going to wander over to italian sporting goods and see if they have something decent. also lookin over ebay right now.

Tandy has kits for these. belt pouches and "black powder shooter bags"

There are dozens of patterns online, as well. But if you don't a wanna make it, go give a holler to mtnfolk mike on the forums here.

Try Gfeller Casemakers, I've used alot of their products for geologists, their field cases are top-notch, very heavy duty (they have to be to survive geology field work) and worth every penny. I've never ordered directly from Gfeller, but have bought their stuff from Miners Inc

Here is their "Gadget Case"

I've used one of their original field cases:

I also have one of their acid bottle holders, hammer holster, pocket transit
case, and silva ranger case. They also make the sheaths for Chris Reeve Knives.

Thats a good plan, Roots and Lowepro have some very good quailty pouchs, I dont know about leather makers for camera cases.

i work at bestbuy so i figure it couldnt hurt to take a look

found it at deakin equipment:
http://www.deakin.com/shop/products/?p=7016

but for $109 i'd rather get the ray mears version O_O

The Gfeller stuff isn't cheap, and you'll never get a good deal on anything from the mining supply shops, they generally charge full retail prices as the bulk of their customers are commercial (I buy from Deakin, Neville-Crosby, and CFE/Commercial Solutions all the time).

I haven't bought any of the Gfeller stuff for a few years, but I remember looking in Canada years ago and I ended up buying from Miners in USA as they carried the full product line and had everything in stock.

Anyone know of a cheaper place to buy their stuff ?

The Ray Mears pouch is more comparable in size to the Gfeller "gadget case" at ~50 $CDN rather than the larger "field case" which is a couple inches longer and wider and double the price.
