Need more huge knives!

Thick construction w/ 4.25"+ blade yet easily pocketable is a bit of a contradiction to me.

If I was going to regularly carry a knife that size I may consider a Spyderco Resilience. It's got a 4.25" blade but not especially thick handles or blade. I know you said no cold steel but the pocket bushman deserves a spot in your category.

Spyderco Police and Ulize are both very close to the length. Maybe 1/4" off.

Self defense and piece of mind knowing that if i need to defend myself this should get the job done.

i'd be more worried about the other guy puling out a gun or someone who knows how to handle a knife. not saying you don't know how to though.:D

I realize that it is useless taking a knife to a gun fight but I feel a lot more that may survive a knife fight in a dark Walmart parking lot if some thug pulls out a Spyderco Tenacious on me...LOL

not the size of the knife but how you use it. also, if someone knows how to handle oneself or use their hands without a knife or weapon, than what?

It seems like the question to ask is what do you do in a situation if someone pulls a knife on you. Do you do nothing and pray that he does not cut your throat just for the hell of it, or do you take some kind of action and go out like you plan on staying alive? Doing nothing sounds like you could loose your life by leaving it up to your attacker...

Both the Bastinelli Creations Big Drago Tac with a 4.625" D2 blade and the Pohl Force Foxtrot One with a 4.5" D2 blade are very solid folders with frame lock made by LionSteel of Italy. They include the RotoBlock which locks the blade in position acting like a fixed blade. Very well-built but figure on paying $400-$450 new!

SOG Spec Elite II is pretty big. And I strongly recommend the DDR HTM knives previously mentioned...don't bother trying to find an affordable Camillus Maxx unless you also like hunting for white rhino. :)
