Well, welcome to posting on Bladeforums! :D

I don't know what your budget is, so I'll suggest a couple of good ones that aren't too expensive. These are both pretty big and heavy, and from my experience, the blades cut very well and stay sharp under harsh conditions (outdoors, dirt, plant sap).

Buck Strider Tactical folder spear point
Buck Bravo - tanto

If you want to get into a higher priced folder then the ZT-300 series is a great choice that is my EDC. It is a heavy duty folder.

Spyderco has a Sprint Run (small batch) of the Manix out in Foliage Green G-10 that is in that price range and fits the description well.

Zero Tolerance is your ticket. I second everything reholli said. And welcome, you will soon be an addict like the rest of us! :D

If you do go more than $300 get an XM 18 Rick Hinderer! Less than $300 get a Benchmade 610 or Spyderco Manix or you may find a Cold Steel Black Sable. Good Luck! Kevin

I have been carrying a Zero Tolerance 300 for the last 2 months while on duty. It is a solid knife and you can fine them for around $200.00 if you take the time to look.

All great suggestions:thumbup:especially the ZT line & CS's AK-47:thumbup:

Also like to add Benchmade's Skirmish & mini-skirmish.

This is my BM635 & Spyderco's D'Alara:cool:They both fill the hand nicely & have vault-like lockups. Both came hair splicing sharp out of the box:thumbup:great symmetry ie:: balanced proportions; also : beauty of form arising from balanced proportions...also the 635 fits real flat in the pocket;)

Welcome to the forum. :)

The buck 110 has been around a while and its heavy and strong.

I can't believe I'm saying this but you might look at a Byrd Cara Cara (8Cr13MoV). Large Folder. Strong lock. Strong blade that holds a edge well. I have been abusing one at home & work for several months now and its held up well.
