extreme ratio rao?

I'd go for one of those if I could find somewhere that would ship internationally (and give you a reasonable price).
Second to the RAO I would put the Ontario Hossom Retribution I.

Oh, and don't forget the new Cold Steel Rajah II.

Unfortunately it's doubtful that you could really call any of these "pocket" knives, even if the Rajah does come with a clip.

Spyderco Chinook 3 or Manix, OR a BM Resistor if you can track one down.
You can get 2 of any of those for $300.:)

Above the $300 mark take a looka the the Strider AR/GB series, about as tanklike and bricklike as you gonna find!:thumbup::D

Extrema Ratio has a variety of panzer-like folders that I believe hit your price range.

The Extrema Ratio Rao is a great knife and imho unbeatable as toughness is concerned, but it is impossible for any civilian use. I've had the chance to play with it (belongs to a friend) so please take my word for it. Carrying a 3-4" fixed blade would be way easier than walking around with a Rao.

On the other hand, the Extrema Ratio BF2 could be a good choice. Very solid, very substantial. I have a Spyderco Manix, BM mini-Rukus and Kershaw JYDII, the ER BF2 is second to the Manix only. And it's beautiful too :)

I will second or third the suggestions for a ZT. Up until last week, I would have said the ZT0200. However I have just finished my alloted pass-around time with the ZT0500 MUDD, designed in conjunction with and based on the custom by Grant and Gavin Hawk. This thing is amazing. Go ahead and fall in the water, roll in the mud, and generally beat the snot outta it. I'm more impressed with it than I am the 0200. My review on this knife is here, posts 44 & 45. The rest of the thread has reviews from others in this pass-around, and are pretty cool!
