need new pocket tank kind-of-a-Folder

I will second or third the suggestions for a ZT. Up until last week, I would have said the ZT0200. However I have just finished my alloted pass-around time with the ZT0500 MUDD, designed in conjunction with and based on the custom by Grant and Gavin Hawk. This thing is amazing. Go ahead and fall in the water, roll in the mud, and generally beat the snot outta it. I'm more impressed with it than I am the 0200. My review on this knife is here, posts 44 & 45. The rest of the thread has reviews from others in this pass-around, and are pretty cool!

The ZT0500 MUDD is an awesome knife for sure. It is my current edc and is definately a heavy duty folder. The sliding lock feels as secure as any lock I've had on a knife, and more secure (at least to me) than a few. After taking it apart I found that it has two 1/8" pins that are set through the tang of the blade, at 90 degrees. The handle contains a flat piece of metal that looks like two fingers extended and slightly apart from one another, make sense?, and this slides over to surround both pins and lock the blade in place. Far as I know, think I remembered reading this, all of these metal parts are hardened to prevent wear. A very strong lock!:D:thumbup:

Received the Mudd yesterday,
This is one tough knife! I also received the RAM with the order.
I love the RAM also, it will be my edc. The Mudd will be the back up ;):D
Big brother and little brother, makes a great combo.

Kershaw and the Hawks have created a monster with the MUDD. This link will take you to Gavin Hawk's (AKA Blademaker) info on the lock and how Kershaw beefed it up more than their custom.

Here's the info cutter came up with on the differences.

This thread shows an exploded view of the MUDD, and pics of Jeff's modifications.

This knife is a tank in folder clothing.

Thanks for the links, when I'm off Thursday night with a beer in hand, I'll read through them. Of course the Mudd will be right beside me.:D
When I first took it out of the box..I wasn't real excited like one usually is.
But today 24 hrs later, I wouldn't trade that Muddy, for nutting, its a big ole keeper!

Kershaw really went the extra mile when they built this knife. They could have just as easily built the frame from 6061 aluminum and it would have been fine by us the consumer, but Kershaw decided to use a stronger aluminum, 7075, to ensure it would stand up to what ever was dished out. Kershaw also hardened the lock parts when they could have gotten away without doing so. Went with thicker lock pins than they had too. It seems that Kershaw desired to offer the very best they could, and they have, kudo's to Kershaw on the ZT0500 MUDD!!!

Pocket tanks I've used and loved:

Manix and Skirmish

I really, really like the Skirmish.
