Dave, it may not work. The doc may claim (and it might even be real) that he was not authorized to release that info to you.
Did the new doc tell you what the problem was? Was it something really demanding treatment in a noncontroversial way? there are pros and cons to any treatment. You would know this, of course, if the original doc had expalined things the first time around.
demand the maximum amount of information. Keep in mind that in many cases, you are not the medical establishment's customer. The insurance company is, and this is why you are being treated like this. It is not a function of being in a small town.
