Need recomendation!

Also wanted to add that I would probably avoid an auto or even a spring assisted opener for the uses you mentioned. I have several of these knives and they are very cool but for cleaning game and hiking and such it might get gunked up and be more difficult to clean thoroughly. Also the spring could break. Just one more thing to go wrong out in the woods. -DT

Cool, Thank you all very much for all of your help. I am giving a hard look to the Spyderco military. Does the black blade have any other advantage besides looks? And I think whatever I go with is going to be a full pain blade, no serration right?

I would go with the uncoated blade, in fact I do, the Military is a favorite carry knife of mine. But either will perform reasonably the same. Definitely for the plain blade. Serrations do have a use when you have a lot of fibers to cut, like rope. Otherwise good steel well sharpened does better plain, and won't snag.

I like a knife with a satin finish, The blade coatings tend to get scratched and then they look worse. Corrosion resistance is a benifit of the coatings, though. A plain blade would be my preference for the uses you mentioned. A combo/serrated blade would be better for things like rope or cordage or tomatos and bread for example. -DT

+1 for the Ritter RSK Mk1.

If you're using it primarily outdoors - while camping, hiking and such - the get the fullsize Mk1.

If you're carrying it every day in an office environment, then I'd recommend the mini version of the Mk1.

Here is a nice description of the knife:

Being a semi-custom it is only sold through Aeromedix.com.
