My birthday is coming up next week and I have a 200 dollar limit. I'm debating on either the spyderco techno or the spyderco burch chubby. I'm having a hard time choosing but I'm leaning torwards the techno. What do you guys think? Also if you have other suggestions on maybe a different knife I should get, I'm totally open to that too. To help give an idea, my edc tasks are very light on my blades. The toughest things I'll be cutting is cardboard which I rarely need to do.

Thanks guys

Choose by looks then because that's not hard at all on the knife

+1 on the Techno. I had the same dilemma as you and I liked the dimensions of the Techno better. Didn't care for the Chubby's blade as much either. My Techno has perfect f&f. I can't find a single thing wrong with it. I can't say that about any other knife that I own. I have carried the Techno everyday since I got it and don't think it will ever leave my pocket. My other small blades are pissed.

Edited to say: I picked mine up for $165 to the house.

Another option I'd take a serious look at is the ZT900. IMHO it has a better warranty, and ZT offers blade replacements. Another option for similar reasons is a Benchmade of some sort.

Techno is an awesome knife.......but for your use I would go with a ZT 450 or a Benchmade 940 or 943. Both under budget, more cutting edge and lots more fun to fondle!!!
Pics are always good!!!
450 on top in first pic.

Another vote for the Benchmade 940. Good size knife yet slim and does not weigh a lot.
Good luck. Kevin

Man I forgot about the 940.......... I've been wanting one of those for a while. I'm semi new to collecting so my collection doesn't have a ton of variety. In fact I only have 1 Benchmade and that's my Benchmade sequel(great knife) but I have 6 spyderco knives. So adding another Benchmade to the collection is definitely something to consider.

I appreciate all of the feedback btw thanks guys

Can't go wrong with the 94X. The Gayle Bradley is a cardboard laser! The Spyderco Sage series or Paramilitary 2 is also very popular.

I have owned three or four Technos. It is a great folder, but the blade is 0.177" thick and is more useful for HEAVIER-DUTY than what you are after. I think a folder with a 1/8" thick blade (0.125") would be much more to your liking. My pick would be a Caly 3 in VG-10 or ZDP-189, both steels of which are fine.
Note that a thicker blade might well be stronger and not snap easily with side to side pressure, but it will NOT slice nearly as well.

I actually own the sage 2 and that's one of my favorite EDC's! I do wanna add a sage 1 to my collection at some point as well. The sage 3 is interesting but it's not really a top priority for me. And I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this but I actually don't even own a paramilitary😅. The paramilitary is a knife that for some reason I have not bought yet but I know it's supposed to be an outstanding blade.

hmmmm that is definitely something I will consider. There's just so many great knives I could buy at this price point it's hard to choose. The Caly 3 has always looked like a great knife to me as well, and i have never owned a knife with ZDP-189

So many great choices for $200 or less. Tough but fun decisions.
Benchmade Crooked River? I love spending other people's money

yeah no kidding. This is one of my favorite parts of collecting, which is doing the research and learning more and more about great knives. Even if it takes me forever to decide lol

Alright everyone I have made a decision. I'm gonna buy the paramilitary 2 with earth brown g10 and S35vn blade! I was gonna buy the techno but I've decided to wait on it, along with all of the other great knives that were suggested. I just figure that by now, I should own a PM2 seeing as it will suit my edc tasks well. Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone! And feel free to keep suggesting some great knives just because I'm curious to see what else comes up!

Great choice! Not only a solid knife but great ergos, lightweight for it size and a lot of fun to play with. Spyderco Positron is a looker too(IMO)

Since I do not know your knife likes other then these 2, I am guessing you like small tough knives. If you like bigger, check Kizer too before making a decision. There are some real beauties for around the $200 mark.
