Nice pipe and pic. That's good to know about Guy.

He did a "rejuvenation" on an old GBD that a neighbor gave me. Turned out really nice. Good smoking bent pipe with some nice older briar.
 
i used a 3-finger to keep cake from my meer today, works well for that. i think jerry should make some infi tampers :cool:

With snakeskin micarta handles? I'd buy a couple.

I made a nice tamp not too long ago out of a piece of deer antler and a .50 caliber brass cleaning jag. Ground the jag flat (it was concave), polished the dickens out of it, and tapped the antler to take the threaded portion of the jag. Turned out really nice. I'll try to find the pic I have of it.

One of these days, I'm going to try to refurbish some old estate pipes. Bought a grinder which will take a buffing wheel, and it has a low enough speed that it won't burn the carnuba wax. Also scored some pure carnuba through one of Frenchy's contacts. One of these days...

i picked up a larsen the other day, you know busse's and our friend thourot, a custom knife maker smokes a pipe.

Reminds me a bit of the Laguiole pipe knives, but seems ever so much nicer.

thanks, i used the knife at fogo's to eat a cow once and the pipe... well i haven't smoked it because i have a cold.

i think i caught it from amy-o, yup, you see she blows up these air bags to pack knives in. well i think someone snuck a cold germ in there and i caught it when i had the damned bag in bed with me.

i would expect garth or jerry to fart in one so i always have my dog test it first. :thumbup:
 
thanks guys you've given me alot of info on pipes and inif. I wil was lookin at those websites and I kinda want a long stemmed one does short or long stemmed make a diff? I liked the cigar but dont mind investin in a pipe. By the way those are some sick lookin busse's skunk and they look great with those pipes.
 
pipes are like wimmin, you have to hold them to see what you like, what feels good and looks good.

besides briar pipes check out meerschaum pipes, they are very nice to smoke also.
 
also another good deal is the old corncob pipe, they last a long time and are cheap. the link above guyon gave, "frenchy's" has one called the "country gentleman" that for 6 bucks is great. get a couple of them and if you don't like it no big deal. also if you get drunk and break one you aren't out anything.
 
yeah I deff smoke when I drink lol. And breakin could occur my bro has a corncob pipe so I will try that out and see how I like it and probably try a few out at the local tobacco store. Thanks skunk.
 
What about pipe filters? I had three (cheap) pipes in rotation in iraq, none with filters, and after about 10 or 15 minutes of maintaining a cherry it felt like I was getting an acid burn on my tongue. Maybe I'm the cherry?
 
you're smoking to fast, you are supposed to sip the smoke, gaze into the sky and meditate, relighting a pipe is all part of smoking it, relighting is a good thing!

if your pipe gets to hot set it down and let it go out, when you relight it will be better than before,

if you need more smoke go to a cigar but even they can get to hot.

sometimes a bowl will last me 4 hours!

remember the tobacco has moisture and when it burns the lil hole is shooting steam at your tongue. dry your tobacco for a half hour before you pack your pipe and smoke slow with your tongue out of the steam!

and always carry your busse knife!!!! :thumbup: :thumbup:
 
skunk you are truly a mountain of info. This will save me probs with pipes hahaha. 4 hrs? thats a long time but good info.
