Hey fellas - myright Jr. just got admitted to the hospital tonight. This was his first trip to the ER. He's 11 months old.
A few days ago he got a red spot on his cheek. Yesteday it started to swell and had he had a red streak from his cheek to the corner of his eye. This morning the entire side of his face was swollen and his eye was swollen shut. At first we thought it was a bug bight, but the pattern of the swelling just didn't make sense.
My wife took him to the Dr. today and they mentioned it may be MRSA or a similar infection and to go straight the hospital. Originally we thought they'd drain it and send us home. Instead they put him on IV antibiotics. It sucks to hold your kid down while he's screaming about an IV stick. Luckily the nurse was great and got the vein the first shot.
They are running some tests to see if they can tell what it is. He's looking better and is not miserable, but is not himself.
My wife is pretty upset. She's a critical care nurse and is exposed to MRSA daily so is feeling pretty guilty that she may have been the reason for his exposure. We're not sure what it is yet.
I'm home for a bit to take care of the dog and to gather up some things and will head back up in a few. (we're about an hour away from the hospital). I got about 4 hours of sleep last night and it looks like none tonight.
Ya'll say a prayer if you have a few extra minutes.
Have a great weekend fellas - I'll shoot an update when I have one and am around a compute.
