Need suggestions on carrying the Buck 110 and ccw.

Maybe I shouldn't of started this thread. I didn't mean for it to turn into a debate on if I should carry a spare mag. If I'm carrying my 229 I will be carrying a spare mag. If I'm carrying my revolver I will be carrying a reload for it also.

And as far as not needing to carry a firearm until the past 4 months of my life. Well that's just BS. For the past 13 years I've lived in a state that forbad it. Before moving here I did carry all the time. I worked to darn hard to get the right to carry in this state not to carry.

I don't understand the whole "you shouldn't expect" idea. Do you carry a spare tire? Do you carry jumping cables? Why? You shouldn't expect to need them.
I didn't intend to start an argument either. Apologies. I would play around a bit more positioning the knife behind the holster. I carry a fixed blade at 6.30 (I'm left handed) and it clears my holster easily.

Just wear the 110 vertically beside the mag pouch. If you're going to carry a lot of gear, then your belt gets pretty crowded. That's just how it is.

Maybe get a pocket clip carry knife like a Marksman or a Vantage.
Then when you have to get out your knife, you won't reveal your concealed carry weapon ;)

Sorry guys if I came across a little brash last night. It was a rough day. I apologize. Yes I will play around with the different ideas. I do have a pocket clip Griptillian my wife bought me last Christmas.I also always have a traditional pocket knife in my left front pocket usually a Buck or Case. I've just always been a fan of the 110 and have a few nice ones that haven't seen much use lately.

How about a double mag pouch/carrier with the 110 taking up one of the spots instead of a mag? I guess that's the advantage of having a large waist. I can carry my revolver, speedloader, 110, flashlight, small child, cellphone, nother revolver,:D

Sir, carry a spare magazine. Always. Having had malfunctions caused by magazines (quality ones), it is cheap insurance. It is the weak point in an auto.

Before carrying a handgun constantly (back-in-the-day), I carried a 110. Once a handgun was a companion, I had to switch to a clip knife eventually. Try it for awhile.

Wearing a knife behind a concealed gun got in the way of your draw (good for you finding out before you may have needed the gun), but as someone said, getting the knife out may easily reveal your handgun.

Try a pocket clip knife. Or horizontal pouch. My choice is a pocket clip knife. Although I had to carry a big folder for a bit. I used a "pocket holster" that is similar to a handgun pocket holster. Worked fine, as long as I had deep enough pockets.

Double mag pouch or real narrow belt sheath next to mag pouch. Or back pocket sheath

I use this one for horizontal carry. Maybe you can wear one towards your back if there's room on your belt.

Some good ideas. I've been out hunting today so I haven't been on here. Some good things to think about.

I cant remember who makes them. But i bought a holster for my .45 and the holster itself has a spot for an extra mag on the outside where the top of the barrel sits. Thats an option.

Interesting thread. I would think you need to talk to someone about putting a clip on a 110 and carrying it in a back pocket. I carry a small vantage in my front pocket on normal days and if going 'afield' or doing home repair I carry a large vantage in my back pocket beside my wallet. There are several customizers that post in the regular forum and in the sale forum that I know can do this for you and not cost a arm and leg. You can then move it around to various pockets depending on what you are doing.

I support concealed carry for people who are level headed. I haven't figured out how we can determine that so guess we will go on with the way it is. You have expressed how you do your cc, you have heard pro and cons on 'extras'. My opinion comes from experience of being a warden/ranger for 30 years and a trained firearms instructor, who mainly walked up to duck blinds in hip boots to check bag and license. They already had shotguns in their hands, loaded shotguns. I do not think a firefight where I needed to reload was going to occur. I was not required to carry a police type belt rig and did not. Consequently, in my retirement I view the need for my cc weapon more as a threat to a bad guy(s) as to a weapon where I will empty mag or cylinder. In the auto world you need to load a empty shell in your mag when you practice and make Tap,Rack,Bang an automatic response on your part. If you don't know what I mean, PM me. I carry a very small auto and lots of times I carry a small 5 shot revolver, both with lasers. A laser is another thing that will make a bad guy think twice when you put the red dot on him. I do not carry reloads. A good, easy to grasp knife like a 110 with a thumb opener or a vantage is the more important of the belt equipment than extra ammo. IF I have to shoot more that two or three shots I will be running away or for cover.
As everyone has seen in the recent news world, gun use will get you in trouble. And don't spout that you have to be alive to go to court talk. You shoot and kill someone even if he took a shot at you and missed and your life will be greatly changed forever. The gun is first a threat, and when no other option is available in comes into use. Then you can say to a court, I told him to get back several times.

Yes, this does not need to become a CCW thread in the Buck forum, but I am the moderator and I have been here a long time and you folks know who I am and many of you have met me. If your going to make CCW comments you need to first give the OP your ideas on his knife carry, then give your CCW opinion. I don't intend to debate my opinion anymore. If you get too wild I will ask the OP if he will care if I close the thread.

kyhunt….I am also a 110 guy. Here is my go to knife when I want lightweight and a pocket clip. (customized by JAG…one of our forum members)

It's a great backpacking knife at about half the weight of a regular 110.

I carry it either clipped in my front right pocket or clipped in my rear right pocket depending on the circumstances.

What I do is Carhartt style of pants. They have more belt loops and I can get my 110 back far enough to stay away from my holster which is fed between the belt loops on the right center to stop sliding fore and aft.

That's a interesting looking 110. I like it.Sorry I haven't been on here. Been out deer hunting. Our shotgun season was this TH,Fr,Sat, Sun. So been trying to put some meat in the freezer. I've seen absolutely nothing. I do thank everyone for their suggestions.

I may have actually came up with a solution for my issue. I have a pocket sheath that will hold a small fixed blade along with a pocket knife. Well I figured I might see if the 110 fits and it does. I think I might give it a try carrying it this week and see how it goes.

I tried putting the 110 behind it but that interferes with gripping the pistol. :::: I'm just looking for suggestions of maybe something I haven't thought of.

Yeah, I almost never put anything right behind my pistol for just that reason. Try right in front of your pistol. Unless you can put it on the left where something else is and move that something else to a shirt pocket or something. There is a way to do it, you just have to decide what works for you.

You know I thought of maybe in front of the pistol but wasn't sure. I might try it today just to see how it feels.

How about a double mag pouch/carrier with the 110 taking up one of the spots instead of a mag? I guess that's the advantage of having a large waist. I can carry my revolver, speedloader, 110, flashlight, small child, cellphone, nother revolver,:D

Do you wear suspenders with all that?

OP I think next to your extra mag or a double mag carrier will be your best option. I did not see if you had a tuckable holster if not maybe a shoulder rig is your option?

Dave

I do own a tuckable but 90% of time wear an owb with either a casual shirt untuked or a jacket/suit coat on.
