Need to balance my collection out with a smaller blade..suggestions?

If there is any wiggle room with budget have a look at Al Mar knives.

The three best small knives I own are the Spyderco Dragonfly, Benchmade Sequel and Benchmade Mini Axis Stryker. They are also the most carried knives I own. I recommend any or all of them.

How about a GEC #83? "Traditional" yes, but a lockback. Consider it a mini, classier Buck 110 you can wear with a suit. There's also a smaller Buck, the Squire, maybe it's #505, which might suit.

Other than that, I'd suggest as have others, the Boker Mini Kwaiken (G10 scales, as the TI might be a bit heavy). Spyderco Dragonfly, or Kershaw Leek. You might also check out the Spyderco ManBug.

My copperlock is a favorite although I don't carry it much. Comes clad in a lot of great handle materials as well!

I like my Benchmade 530 & 531. Super slim with excellent blades and they're Benchmades!!!
Awesome little sheeple friendly blade!

That's pretty funny. Black, thin, covert, CIA, stabby death dagger is sheeple friendly. Funny stuff. My dragonfly is a murder death kill weapon in the eyes of the general public. Anything bigger than a keychain SAK is a big knife. My Chaparral is a BIG knife to most people.

Heck, some people in my office think my zt's 452cf & 561 are big blades. Freaking sheep. [emoji12]

I'm going to recommend some smaller, high-value FFG fixed blades that I own and love to use, because getting bang for your buck is awesome, fixed blades are awesome, FFG is awesome, and a tiny fixed blade is easier to use than a tiny folder in my experience/opinion.

If you like serrations, I recommend the Cold Steel Super Edge. 2" blade and a grippy kraton handle that's almost the same length. Keychain carry! It's awesome! Very lightweight knife that stays in its kydex-like sheath until you need it. This knife is very reliable and easy to carry. You could attach it to all sorts of places. Boots, lapels, hat brims, ties, sleeves, you name it. I paid $16 for mine.

Alternatively, they also make a Mini Tac that I'm very fond of. Like the CRKT Minimalist (which I haven't tried so I can't recommend), it has a super ergonomic handle that really locks into your grip with a sub hilt and finger grooves. I like it so much that I plan to buy another one in a different shape very soon (they currently come in a sweeping clip point or a broad tanto point). I have the old discontinued Beaver Tail that you might still be able to find (it wasn't popular because it's ugly); this particular model is a hell of a lot of fun to cut things with. What a champ shearing blade this thing is! Boy, do I love a broad FFG blade like this. I only had to cough up about $35 for mine.

Then there's the ESEE Izula! What an awesome and reliable little knife. Edge retention and strength are top notch, but don't forget to take care of it. ergonomics are way behind the Mini Tac out of box, but you can easily wrap the handle in paracord or attach available or included scales to it for better grip and comfort. Paid about $60 for the whole Izula survival kit, great value.

Another vote for the CS Mini Tuff Lite - it's the back-up to whatever large folder I'm carrying. It's not necessarily the thinness, but the two excellent finger choils and overall size, that make it vanish into the hand.

Precisely what I'd have said if I got here sooner. I actually prefer the Mini to the Tuff Lite for that reason, that and the fact the Tuff Lite is more of a pocket hog given how far the blade protrudes when closed. Oddly, I don't mind that the Mini's scales are almost as thick as the Tuff Lite's.

Buck Lux Avid

Doesn't have all the finger choiling, but a clean non threatening look in a small knife, should still "disappear" in hand.

Lots of things to comment here:

Yes, these are all great recommendations. FFG and Small Fixed Blades rock!

I dig my CRKTs, and find them to be amongs the best neck knives out there...excellent for food prep, I must add

The blade shapes are really different and do very different tasks. I prefer the wharncliffe of all three.

The other neck knife that doesn't really imprint at all and weighs nothing is the ARK from Spyderco.

It's even thinner than the Minimalists, and slices like an opinel. Really.

Rust proof, nice grip, excellent sheath.

For small folders, I have to say go with the Dragonfly, if you haven't handled one yet you have to, period.

Awesome grip and cuts way above its size!

PS: I am replying to you Kwon 'cause I asked you in another thread to compare the CS Super edge to similar small sized blades, if possible, and give further thoughts and experiences you had with this S.Edge. Thanks

I would suggest a Spyderco Manbug. Simply an awesome knife that thinks it is bigger. People have skinned deer with them! Also, the aforementioned Mini Tuff Lite is pretty good, too. If you want a small fixed blade chain saw get a Cold Steel Super Edge. I wore one out, literally. Great knife.

Sounds like a Kershaw Leek

Another vote for the Leek, nice little knife and a great price. I carry mine all the time even when I have something larger on me just for that reason. I also like the Spyderco Techno but it's a bit on the higher side.

Like ThePeacent, I'm a big fan of the CRKT Minimalist Warncliffe. Newer versions have a clip that allows carry on a thin belt.

The Spyderco ARK is a very thin, very slicey blade that's good for food prep in environments where you're trying to keep weight at a minimum.

I gave my guides one after going ocean kayaking in WA this summer.
