I could cut you something. I only have pretty nice burl in that size, though. It wasn't cheap.

Send me a PM if you're interested.

Here's a photo:

Give Robert at ArizonaIronwood.com a call and ask him if he can get it for you. I bet he can. You'll have to pay out the nose for it, of course.

Last time I got a piece of ironwood burl that was over 2" in width....it was $250...

You might rethink the design to see if you can bring it in under that 2" limit to help keep cost down...like putting a spacer in the middle and using 2 pieces (if the reason for the wide piece is a curved handle).

I agree with Dan. I've got Robert's cell phone number - PM me if you need it.

Just out of curiosity, what are you doing that you need a piece of wood that size anyway? It's a little unorthodox (to say the least).

MAN... You guys got beautiful WOOD! (and I mean that in the most heterosexual way... How bout' them NE Patriots?):D

yikes

I could get the design down to 2.125 but it'd be really tight
I'm making a chopper handle with a hefty curve and a flaired butt

someone Pm'd me a company that sells turning blocks who had a 2.25 x 2.25 x 4.625 which is slightly shorter than I wanted but I can work with it.

I'll let you all know how it works out, from the picture it doesn't have as much burl as I'd like but we'll see

severtecher - PLEASE tell me your joking, the big reason DI is so expensive is because people illegally harvest it leading to bans, embargos etc.

Code:
is there anything you can use this for/ or can do to.-marekz--it would take alot of skill to pull a block you need out of this half moon piece. I has some potential but there are also straight lines. Just thought id post it --you never know

I get all my large, trunk size pieces here. Unfortunately, it's self service, you have to walk a lot, and make sure you take a flashlight. Most of all....DONT TELL. :p

Good for you! I always like to see someone that finds a way to make themselves happy or enrich themselves by illegal activity.

I hope your "nyah nyah nyah" sneering emoticon was misplaced.

Why you would illegally cut down an endangered tree that could be a few hundred years old to make &^%# knife scale is beyond me. These plants will not be replaced.

Here's hoping one of those large rattlers finds you and your flashlight one dark night when you lean over to saw down some ironwood. :D

Im from the east coast but i always heard you can cut up a ironwwod tree as long as its dead!!!-- i guess one could poor poison around the root area and come back in a few months. not that i would-im just saying. What about the development. they cut those trees down. the areas that arnt in the park are developing more and more--marekz
