Like 14C28N? I Prefer AUS 8 over many other budget steels. Easy to sharpen and takes a wicked edge. AUS 8 is not a sub-standard steel, if you believe so than the beloved Kershaw Leek in 14C28N has sub-standard steel as well.

I did the same search as Gator97. Could you give us a hint what you searched or who made this claim about 440 vs AUS-8?

Don't forget the performance of any given steel can be hugely influenced by the quality of the heat treatment also.
