I'm finally looking to finally get a nice folder (around a 3+ inch blade). I really like the specs on S30V steel (not to mention Chris Reeve uses it..). I want to pay $150 (or less).

I'm seriously considering a Benchmade 745 Mini-Dejavaoo. It meets all the criteria, and seems like a good blade. I also like that it has G10 scales. And, I can get one for around $100...

Anything else I should seriously consider in this price range?

Thanks in advance!

You can get a Benchmade Kulgera for ~$130 if it interests you. S30V blade, G10 scales. A bit of a "gentlman's" knife, but I haven't had any problems with it as a user.

By the way, keep in mind that you can get Benchmades for a good deal lower than the MSRP. You probably knew that, but it seemed like the knife you posted is retailed quite near your budget, so I thought I'd point it out just in case. I mean, the Kulgera retails for $200, but I doubt anyone who owns one actually paid that much.

Take a look at the ZT0350. I just bought one a few weeks ago. The is a sweet folder. Tough as nails and feels great in the hand. I got mine for $98 shipped. Much nicer than my Emerson CQC10 at almost half the price. Love my ZT.

There are so many good S30V knives under $150...add some more criteria and you'll find something you really like.

The G-10 Leek is a nice option...and you could probably but 2 for $150.

I think I'm about to take the plunge on a Paramilitary-2 in S30v - it's something you might want to look into.

I'd take a look at the Spydercos. Extremely well-made knives with a number of models in your price range.

Wow, great suggestions so far. With the suggestion of the Spyderco Sage 2 - using the Chris Reeve frame-lock, I'm now leaning toward that one. It's the closest I'll probably ever get to a Sebenza...

The only issue I kind-of have with the Sage 2 is the clip. Is the wire clip sturdy enough for this chunky knife??

The clip is fine. It's pretty tough since it's hardened to withstand repeated extension with daily use. If it were not ok, you'd be seeing threads about that by now.

I REALLY like the wire clips on my Sage II Ti and P'Kal...you shouldn't take issue with the clip...doesn't look like a knife clip to most sheeple either.

Thanks for the info.

This knife seems to completely fit the bill in terms of size, build strength, materials, etc..

Anything else that closely aligns with this knife I should consider before pulling the trigger?

Are there any other knives using the Chris Reeve framelock design?

Thanks again for all the great input!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I have both the sage 1 and sage 2.

I would keep the sage 1 if I could only have one. Just dig it more.

Yep. Here's one example - the Bradley Alias II (sells for around $170):

I have two of them, and they are worth their price IMHO.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Sage, but since you asked for more options I'll mention the Benchmade 790 Subrosa. It has an S30V blade and titanium frame lock. It's also an assisted opener, which may be a plus or minus depending on your preferences.

Look into the ZT0350CB from knives.cx Gary is great to deal with for one but on top of that it is the Elmax blade which is phenomenal steel or the regular 0350. I have a 350 and a 301 which is larger(4inch blade) and rotate as my EDC.
