Negative Experience with Brous Blades: Resolved

That being said, my recommendation to anyone ordering from Brous Blades is, take any kind of communication concerning your purchase(s) at face value, until you have actual evidence of the action occurring. Make sure you follow up!

I don't think you know what that expression means . . unless you meant to say "don't take any communication at face value".

anyways, sorry for being pedantic and off topic. In some ways i side with Brous in that once you had placed an order and payed him he didn't have any obligation to give you a refund. That said he shouldn't have lied to you about it being already shipped.

I am not so sure we should conclude that Jason is not telling the truth about the shipping. My wife does a lot of Click-and-Ship transactions with her business. More than once our local Post Office has not liked her customs form and held onto the package until she could explain the situation. One package bounced around for a month before it got sent in the right direction. I know this doesn't fully explain the label dates, but confusion does happen in a busy small business and since everything was made right, we should cut him some slack. I also agree with fatherhudson in that this was an irregular transaction with the change of mind of the purchaser. It is an unfortunate fact of life that things that don't fit in our normal slots often are neglected. Hopefully it was a learning experience for Jason that will enable him to further refine his fledgling business.
Time to let this thread die.

I can tell you what, he makes one hell of a knife!! Got my silent soldier the other day! What an awesome knife! Such a cool design! Surprised someone else didnt come up with it sooner! I did email Mr Brous and thanked him and praised his work........and got no response. I know people are busy but a simple thanks would have been nice. Maybe im overreacting? Idk? :drunk:

He could be busy making a living, or sitting at the computer replying immediately to every email he gets. One never knows what circumstances people have to deal with. Overreacting, maybe. Buying a product and you being satisfied with it ips appreciated on his behalf I'm sure.

this all could have been avoided with shipito, knifeart recommends using shipito because their only international option is also $40.

I'll still order one of his knives and have it sent to Germany, as soon as he offers the version 1 of the Silent Soldier again with a drop point blade.
Good to know that his knives not only look good in pictures :)

I don't think purchasing a knife directly was the way to go. Jason Brous has a list of dealers, myself included (though I won't have any silent soldiers in stock for another week or so). BladeHQ I know for sure has them in stock. Jason Brous is a great designer and I get a lot of requests for his neck knives. I think he was thrown a curveball with the international shipping. It took me a couple runs when I first started my website to get it right... and I still run into problems from time to time.
I have found that some countries do not allow international shipping customs forms to be filled out online. And sometimes the status will list as "electronic info received" until it reaches the destination country.
The shipping rate seems accurate though; maybe even 2 dollars cheaper than it actually cost for express with tracking.

It's nice to see Jason Brous responding to the thread and I'm glad to see that things were resolved.
