Negative feedback for backing out of deal?

It sucks when this happens, but it does happen. After several flakes I stopped putting SPF in my threads. It is still available until I have the money in my paypal. Another good reason to use paypal, no need to wait days to find out if someone has flaked on you. Also, don't be afraid to move on if someone hasn't paid quickly enough. Stipulate quick payment in purchasing requirements.

Lastly, to combat the inevitable placement decent of your sales thread on the exchange, put a little link in your signature to your sales thread. If you are an active member in other areas of the forum, plenty of people will see it. I have done this and I have often clicked on links that other people have provided.

That's the general consensus as of now. If you wanted to though you could start a thread here to let others know. As for losing out on other buyers unfortunately is just part of dealing on the Internet.

It's the actual rule, not just a consensus. Section 4-4:
Retaliatory negative feedback ratings can earn you an infraction. Getting pissed off because a deal didn't go though is no reason to try and ruin someones rep. You are expected to conduct yourself in a mature and responsible manner.

Best thing to do when selling an item, is include a clause that says the following:
"Payment is expected within x amount of time, if not item moves to the next person. Items will remain available until payment is received."

Or something to that effect, it saves a lot of hassle. On the other hand, if someone repeatedly tries to buy things only to later back out, they get a hefty infraction. We've banned a couple people for buying items off the exchange, complaining about all kinds of crap they didn't agree with when the ad was clear, then they try to return the item. It was almost like test driving an item and then sending it back, then getting offended when the other party brought up a concern. Ain't no body got time for that.

What if you lost perspective buyers? Say the people that asked for 2nds and 3rds moved on as you were wasting your time with the bum that agreed to buy but backed out.

Sometimes a item sells and the seller replaces the price with "sold" and some will post 2nds & 3rds not knowing the sale price and not capable of the purchase if they were called upon.

Not saying thats your case but not all here play fair.
