I've dealt with jpinc in the past with no issues, however I was the seller.

Yesterday, he posted a dalibor vega in the classifieds. I sent him a pm saying I would take it and he responded, "Done sold". He provided his paypal and said "thanks".

He marked the ad spf and funds were sent in full. He then made a post saying it was sold.

I got home from work to a message from him saying he's selling a different knife instead and that the dalibor was "wayyyy nicer" than it. I first thought he was kidding, but then noticed he said he was withdrawing the vega in his sale thread.

He refunded my funds at approximately 2 a.m. this morning.

Crappy deal. Someone else posted about being upset with this guy. Sucks when you think you scored a grail then the seller decides to bail. Russ

Well, he goes on the list.

He should know you made this thread.

Further, he didn't follow rule number one:

"Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the selling price. There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest"."

Ha!

I went to go look at the sales thread and guess what? He's already on my ignore list. Love it!

The only way I can see backing out of selling, so deep into the sale, is asking the buyer first and getting his agreement. Flaking like this is ridiculous.

Update, seller apologized and has agreed to sell the knife. Funds have been sent via goods and services via paypal.

Be very careful. This guy has a long list of crap on here and other places, including but not limited to shipping a $1200 knife in an envelope, without insurance, and lying on a customs form! Hope you get the knife!

This is just another reminder to search here in the GB&U before you do a deal with someone.

Esav, I realize that his latest situation looks like it might work out, but with this guys history, do we need him around here?

anxious to see how this progresses...................

I am uncomfortable with the fact that he gets to operate with impunity here on Bladeforums after being banned from both the USN and JD. I know there's little inter-forum communication but this is a small community whose ability to police itself is hindered by the "he didn't do anything wrong here yet" mentality.

He does have a shady record here as well though.

We have no idea why he was banned on other sites. Is anyone out any money or property as a result of jpinc's actions or lack there of? There has been a trickle of communication recently between BFC and other sites passing along info on serial scammers but not enough in my opinion. The problem is building the contacts between sites to facilitate the communication. At this point it doesn't appear jpinc has done enough to get banned here. He waffled and withdrew a knife after committing to the deal. He could get dinged for doing so but it appears he has since agreed to sell the knife as agreed to at the start of the transaction.

He's got 4 threads on him here in the GB&U and 3 of them are not good. There was that big one about how he shipped a knife to Canada in an envelope with out insurance and lied on the customs form but then wanted help from BFC. I can't remember how that one worked out exactly but however it did it was from pressure through GB&U, much like this current situation. He has not learned a thing.

The problem with having him around is that noobs and other folks who don't know to look here before dealing with him will have no idea who they are dealing with. But hey, I'm safe, he was on my block list long ago.

I've opened similar thread in the past but was quickly closed with result - "you are not out of money" - be happy.

I knew this would be here today, I kinda watched this all go down in the exchange last night and it looked fairly ugly.

I think that's the key, you have to search to know who you are dealing with especially when they aren't really a part of BF other than on the exchange.

In terms of someone being brought up in the GBU three times for transaction issues, I am not sure where the line Is there on when enough is enough, that's a decision for the Mods....

Yeah, if you look at where he posts it is 99% sales/trade related. Not immediately a condemnation but he is certainly not into discussing knives! Should be a red flag.

Agree....his attitude towards others and his language are concerning as well.
On my ignore list now.

He probably flaked because someone offered more money than you to buy the knife.

I sure wish there was a policy that allowed Mods to suspend exchange privileges when someone abuses theirs. This guy should be hit with at least a 30 day suspension.

But from the looks of his history on GB&U he is probably doing more harm to himself than any Mod could do!!!
