I have people I consider friends on the JD that let me know when someone from over there pops up here. I appreciate their time and willingness to alert me on potential problems with some people. I've been able to curb several issues by preemptively sending PMs to the people in question.

I am uncomfortable with the fact that he gets to operate with impunity here on Bladeforums after being banned from both the USN and JD. I know there's little inter-forum communication but this is a small community whose ability to police itself is hindered by the "he didn't do anything wrong here yet" mentality.
He isn't operating without impunity, he just hasn't crapped the bed the way he has in other places. You are painting things with a very broad brush. We communicate with friends that are mods and members on other forums, but every place has their own rules. What is allowed here is not on other forums, and vice versa. People simply need to take a little personal responsibility and learn how to use the forums and even the internet to search before sending money to a stranger. We aren't going to babysit people though, that would basically mean that the Exchange needs to be closed because people cannot be entrusted with their own safety. If we went around banning people for what they did in other places, it would totally change the spirit of the community here. We're talking Minority Report Pre-Crime Division stuff. I think we are doing a good job keeping the moderation low in the Exchange and people being mostly honest. Can we improve? Of course, we all can.

He's got 4 threads on him here in the GB&U and 3 of them are not good. There was that big one about how he shipped a knife to Canada in an envelope with out insurance and lied on the customs form but then wanted help from BFC. I can't remember how that one worked out exactly but however it did it was from pressure through GB&U, much like this current situation. He has not learned a thing.

The problem with having him around is that noobs and other folks who don't know to look here before dealing with him will have no idea who they are dealing with. But hey, I'm safe, he was on my block list long ago.
If he doesn't learn he will be gone. Transactions need to be handled according to the rules. Again, no way for us to see every single sales thread and we do what we can. Luckily, the people that really care report things that are problematic and that allows us to intervene. I urge people to report threads when they look shady or violate several rules, or if they see a returning banned member or a thief that we need to look into.
I knew this would be here today, I kinda watched this all go down in the exchange last night and it looked fairly ugly.

I think that's the key, you have to search to know who you are dealing with especially when they aren't really a part of BF other than on the exchange.

In terms of someone being brought up in the GBU three times for transaction issues, I am not sure where the line Is there on when enough is enough, that's a decision for the Mods....
You nailed it again. People need to do research, doesn't matter how long they have been in the game. New people need to be especially cautious of "deals" and "bargains". How many threads do we see "I bought this knife, is it real?" It seems that carelessness cannot be prevented in some folks no matter you post regarding authorized dealers, not worry about saving $2 on a shady deal, etc.

He probably flaked because someone offered more money than you to buy the knife.

I sure wish there was a policy that allowed Mods to suspend exchange privileges when someone abuses theirs. This guy should be hit with at least a 30 day suspension.

But from the looks of his history on GB&U he is probably doing more harm to himself than any Mod could do!!!

I already asked Spark about that. He would need to possibly create an all new usergroup for mods, and all the technical issues that come with it. He can do it, if needed. The bottom line is if someone needs to be babysat to that extent, they don't need to be here period. I agree, he is his own worst enemy.

I cant stand that.when a deal is made its done unless talked about amicably by both parties one cannot just bail cause of better offer or change of mind without a discussion.of coatse tgings happen it just needs to be.agreed upon.

funny to me that you can be banned for falsehoods, lies other tell seem to matter. Saying the wrong words or posting the wrong photo gets you banned, many things. Also strange how certain members and mods share info and belong to many forums. Buy and sell on various sites. But for the most part I see 2 things daily, Itrade ratings among many don't matter for ANYTHING. And second the exchange is full of known dealers, flippers, catchers and re-leasers who violate a core rule and cheat the forum out of REAL money, yet they operate over and over many for years without any action. I am puzzled by this. Site has a forum for Dealers, and I applaud those that operate there. But no one sells hundreds of knives monthly, all flipped from various sites, easily viewed as "catch and release". IMO a limit should be placed on Catch and Release, it is nothing more than a dealer operating, if it goes beyond a few here and there. Also many basic and registered members buy in the exchange and list of other sites within mins. I fell only paying members should be able to buy within the first hour, 60 mins of all listing. A lot of new members resale their quick buys to dealers. Strange how a new non paying member buys 3 grails within a hour of joining, and then they never appear again. However all said, Mr. Spark rules and that is beyond question fine by me. Until we buy our own forums we are lucky to be here, the best site I am aware of.
