I bought a new Galyean Pro Series, large blue Lahar (#18) last November from True North Knives. It was very rough and gritty to open and I could hear squeaking and rubbing. It wouldn't even deploy with the flipper. It was sent back to Tim Galyean right away with 20 dollars cash, he asked for to return it.
After that he refused to answer my emails about it repeatedly.

I asked Neil of TNK, knives about it and he said he had trouble getting him also and could do no better than I was doing, which was nothing.

So, Neil decided to send me his last large blue, Lahar, not that he was in any way responsible, but as a professional dealer, he wanted to make this right with me! Wow, I sure never expected him to do this and he has refused any offer from me for payment at all! What a nice guy, and I'm glad I bought it from him.

Glad to hear there are still some good guys out there.

Shame it had to work out the way it did.

Nothing burns me up more that bad customer service.

If Tim G does disappear for weeks at a time hunting, you would have thought he would have someone to at least answer calls and e-mails.

Glad to hear there's a happy ending to your situation Jill. I've been following your other thread, and just when it seemed you ran into a dead end, Neil steps in and makes it right. The only thing wrong is that I haven't bought any knives through Neil...seems like I need to sometime :D.

definitely buy one if you can. I'm from NY, unfortunately, so I can't anymore, but I've bought a small Lahar from him. He shipped the knife with some candy too :D

I have always had great service from Neil. I met him at the NYCKS and talked with him for a while, real stand up guy!

Here's exactly what he said when I offered him at least some payment for the knife.
"No payment- just let me fix this for you."

Neil is an awesome guy indeed. I've only bought from him once, but it was the most perfect transaction anyone can hope to have. There are so many excellent dealers out there, no need to struggle when there are good people like TNK around.
Keep us posted on the issue with Tim please. I also noticed that TNk does not have any listing for Tim's knives anymore...

they do, as "Galyean Pro-Series Knives" under manufacturers.

To call this an extremely classy and generous move doesn't begin to do it justice.

(On a semi-related note, I placed my first order with Neil and TNK earlier today, before I had seen this thread, due in large part to all the good things people had to say about him in another thread here in GBU. After seeing this, I'm even happier that I did.)

It has been several years ago, probably 6 or 7 I guess. It was Christmas Eve afternoon and I saw the FedEx truck pull up. I was not expecting anything. Neil had sent me a big, I mean big, tin of cookies. He said it was just his way of saying thanks for being a good customer.
