Anyone watching this series on Netflix? The dad, supposed to be a SEAL, keeps going to his knife as a defensive weapon as well as an EDC tool for various cutting tasks. Anyone know what knife he is using? To me it looks like a ZT804 but its hard to tell.

It brings up a better question, if you could only bring 1 knife to another planet for the rest of your life, what would you take?

Ha. I actually thought about making a Space Knife Thread, my idea was to limit it for folders for space saving reasons and maybe a 4.5oz weight limit.
Can't help with the knife but didn't look like an 804 to me.

There were a few times in that show someone pulls out a knife. I paused and looked a few times and I'm fairly certain they are some variation of CRKT M21 based on the looks.

Not sure what knife I'd use on another planet. Maybe something with nanotechnology.

Dude I almost made this exact thread last night. I think it may be an 804. Last time I posted one some of the incredible knife detectives figured it out. Keep me in the loop!!

If I could only have 1 it would be my Spartan Blades Harsey folder!!!

I could not figure out what it looked like. 804 blade profile maybe but was not that knife.

Tbo I think it was just a movie prop

Whatever it is, I'm fairly certain KAI made it. Reminded me of certain ZT's and certain Kershaw's.

The show itself actually surprised me. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

Personally I wouldn’t take a liner or framelock to outerspace if I could only take one folding knife. They seem to be prone to wearing out faster than other locks.

Although these days with the steel lock bar inserts that isn’t as true as it used to be.

Maybe the best folding knife to take would be a butterfly knife or something like a svord peasant. One where just by gripping the knife you hold it open.

I liked that show quite a bit. I'm definitely looking forward to season 2.

As for the knife, I was looking but I couldn't ID it. I'll have to try to get some screen captures when I get home from work.

best view of the knife I could find on short notice

The above pic looks very similar to the CRKT M16/M21 knives. They have the blade guard with hole in it and the "Auto Lawks" feature that is seen behind the thumb stud. The blade shape is slightly different than what I remember. The back of the handle also is reminiscent of the CRKT.

CRKT M16 Tanto part serrated

You can’t see in my pic but it indeed looked tanto. But it has a fatter belly than the straight tanto of a m16-02. Also above the thumbstud, there is a distinctive bit of silver you can kinda see in my pic.

That bit of silver is the AutoLAWKS safety.

Don't they have a drop/spear point of the M16? It could be that. The flat section on the end of the handle and hole in the flipper tab correlate.
