Netflix "Lost in Space" knife?

What is your point? The post I quoted of his had no exceptions.

Ok you drew the exceptions out. Good for you. Read post 51 which addresses the other exception, carburization. Or the post under that where I further state that a lock with better geometry helps too. That is not the point though. The point was it is not the lock I would personally pick.

Glad you could see the light

My point is these are professionals sharing what they know about the subject.

If it helps I would have taken a fixed blade and a folder. Each something proven in the field for extended use.

Ok.

;) Don't take a gravity knife into free fall ! But an ANTI-GRAVITY knife would be great for space . :p

Why does every post I see on BF devolve into bickering. The thread is about a knife from a TV series. It’s a silly, fun thing to discuss. This is a place to gather and impart wisdom or pal around virtually with people who have shared interests. Stop taking everything so personally and just enjoy your time here ogling fine cutting instruments.

Best outer space knife ever! The Custom OTF Pocket Light Saber! Forget your liner locks, your frame locks, your back locks and your fixed blades.
Don't worry about your carbon or stainless blades and move up to particulate light! Whip out the checkbook. It's SPACE, daggummit!

I'd drop the mic but in a zero gravity situation, it loses a great deal of the effect.

This happens on other forums about clothing, horse racing, even pencils. If this is the level of discourse after a few days about a thread that is essentially meaningless, can you imagine what would happen in the cramped enclosure of a space ship after years of travel with armed people? When the ship reached Alpha Centauri, the little green men would open the hatch & discover a bunch of hacked up corpuses. It would resemble the final scene from the Wild Bunch. Little green scientists would do GPS and locate our origin & mark Earth as a no travel zone. :)

Curious if anybody knows what they are using in space now? Most threads along this line reference prior knives used in old missions, but we have had people in space 24/7 for quite a long time now... wonder what's currently in use for space knives?

Take a look at this: https://tripleaughtdesign.com/shop/d-rocket-space-xdp-tad-edition/

"A sleek and robust flipper designed to handle a multitude of utilitarian tasks, the D Rocket Space XDP flipper was developed as a possible company knife for a private space exploration company. The unique aesthetic of the knife begins with a complex six face grind featuring a wide fuller and continues with capsule-shaped handles composed of either full titanium or titanium with a carbon fiber face. With its incredibly thin and contoured profile the knife is a pleasure to use and carry. The two-stage deployment was developed for safety and is facilitated by a heavy double detent. The blade is CTS-XHP steel and the handles are glass bead blasted titanium."
