Never Forget... 9/11/2001 (Where Were You?)

it was my second year as a PO, I remember the panic and the call to prepare in case it was larger scale. (meaning every city)

I remember too well. I remember the smoke rising from the Pentagon and seeing it from the front steps of my home.

I will never forget, or forgive this.....ever:cool:

Just finished reading this whole thread....the hairs on my body are standing on end. Thanks for posting this, Jaxx.

I was working in building 42 (I think that's the right #) at AMAT here in Austin. My friend and I were elbows deep in troubleshooting a test fixture that was causing the production line some problems. Before we knew it....none of the techs were there to help us anymore. Looked all the way down towards the break room and everyone was "frozen". We went to check it out....and the footage of the second plane was just being broadcasted for the first time.

First thing I did was call my wife and father to make sure they were "ok" (I wasn't assuming it was just NYC).

I now have a 09/11 license plate that the good state of Texas allows me to purchase annually. I wear it proudly on the front / back of my land cruiser. Will try to post some pics of it later today. I pulled up to a Sonic once, and an old veteran (must've been WWII, or the like) bent down to get a closer look...using his cane....then he looked up and said "hell yeah, son".

EDIT FOR PIC:

I was at the hospital visiting my dying wife, wondering if my whole world was ending. All the horror of that day was magnified and I will never forget thinking about all those who would be grieving, too. But their grief was totally unexpected. I was really angry, and vengeance was on my mind.

I was driving to the office and heard it on the news. When I got there, of course the TV was already on and about 5 minutes after I arrived, I watched live, as the 2nd plane hit the tower.

It was a day I will never forget and one the world will never forget.

The innocent lives lost in this attack will never be forgotten. God Bless our men and women who also lost their lives trying to help others.

I was at work. After the first plane hit we turned on the TV in the office and all watched the unbelievable and horrifying events that followed. It was emotionally devastating. I shut the office down and sent everyone home so they could be with their families. We prayed for all the innocent victims and their families.

I'll never forget and neither will anyone who comes into my office.

Was getting breakfast at work, just like always. We had jsut walked into the dining area when the report of the first plane came on the screen.

My buddy joked "Wonder which Kennedy was flying that one?".

We were trying to get our brains around how a stinkin airliner could "accidently" hit a building when the second one hit.

We knew then that it was more than an accident.

I had a conference call scheduled with our Risk VP (worked for Morgan Stanley at the time) at 9:30. I was freaking out whether Andy (the VP) was a victim or survivor. Found out later he was a survivor due to a fluke that had him running late.

It came through that we had the option to go home. I did, wanting to get my wife home "just in case"....

After I got home, saw neighbors looking up in the sky. Thought "OH CRAP"!!

Went out on the deck and saw AF1 escorted heading towards the east.

Sat, watched, cried, worried.

What a flood of emotions that day.

Still, still man, still.....

Homeroom in senior year of high school.

I remember reading in the October issue of Surfer Magazine that a businessman who worked at the Towers had skipped work to surf swell from tropical storm Gustav. He paddled out at a local NY or Northern NJ break and actually watched the tower that he was supposed to be working in come down. Just food for thought...

I was at work... my buddy called me over because the first plane had hit and the news reporter was saying something like " ...it appears that a plane has lost control and hit the Twin Towers.", and as we were standing there watching, the second plane came in and hit. The same reporter said "it appears that another plane has lost control and hit the Towers." A couple things that I will NEVER forget:
1. The intense sorrow and anger that I felt on that day.
2. The look in my kids eyes and the questions they asked when I made it home.
3. The gullibility of the press that continues to this day

I was working in a nursing home, and the ward clerk came to get me. Said someone had blown up the WTC. Went to the day room in time to see the second plane hit. I remember thinking "those are people...falling..." Spent the remainder of the day trying to calm residents and staff, hoping everything was going to be OK.

NEVER FORGET. NEVER. AND NEVER FORGIVE.

I was smoking a cig at Dulles Airport where I work as a bean counter for the Authority. Cop walked by at 8:00 am-ish and I said nice day and she agreed and kept on her beat.
Within that hour shit got weird as hell. People running and no one knowing what to do. I kept away from the large groups of people thinking that would be the next thing to happen was a raghead nut mowing folks down. I was back home by 10:30 am. Traffic jams all over and the clear blue sky that afternoon with only the sound of fighter jets in the air.
I went back to the office the next day. Parking lot at the airport was empty more police than I ever seen before. Later that week all the suits everywhere looking into everything.

Also,
Remember that my mothers family in Italy was scared too. They wondered if America would start launching nukes over this attack. So many years and troops killed later maybe that would have been the better idea? Maybe if you wanted to learn about Mecca the only place to find it would have been in a history book?

I mean is it better to crush the wasps one at a time or burn the hive? But we worry to much what the neighbors who aren't getting stung will think. **language**. Lets be done with it once and for all.

I got a call, little after 7MST, 'You need to turn on the TV', first tower had been hit, wasn't long before the second plane came in.

Grabbed my bag and went to work, helped security lower the flag to half staff & came home put up my flag and watched the day unfold.

Never Forget !

I was at work, in a production shop that morning. Heard it on the radio. Went upstairs to one of the conference rooms and turned on CNN on a tv. My --------- foreman came up and said get back to work.
As Hammy said, so many emotions throughout that day and beyond.
My father, a WWII vet had passed away in November of 2000. It might sound wrong, but I am still greatful he never saw that day unfold.

NEVER FORGET.......NEVER FORGIVE!

Never forget that no plane ever hit Building 7.

Where was I? I was enjoying the rights that the Patriot Act took from me.

Seriously, everyone deserves their own viewpoint, but this is a clear cut case of a time and a place for everything. I think a 9/11 tribute thread is a repugnant, obnoxious place to air your half witted conspiracy theories. Have some respect and decency, because as of now, you're showing none.

All i've noticed from "truthers" is they really don't care about any of the lives lost on 9/11, just how they were lost.

I was working at an electronics store at the time. As most electronics stores we had

dozens of TVs around the showroom. One of the service guys out back came out and

said that a plane had just hit the World Trade. At first, I thought he was kidding, but we

switched one of the TVs to CNN, and it all became so real. It is hard to describe just

how I felt. It was very surreal. When the second plane hit it was unbelievable. I will

never forget that day. As others here have said, it is good to see this back in the

public mind. It seems the last few years 9/11 just sort of came and went, and I

wondered if anyone else even remembered what had happened.

We can never forget that day in 2001.
