New 14 run

I wasn't prepared for that one...didn't get the email but saw the notifications from traffic in this thread pop up. I had to login, pick one and checkout from my phone in a hurry right in the middle of a big meeting at work lol (and I have a real hard time reading small print or photos on my phone). Hey you do what you gotta do :) I really wish I had more time to look at the different options but I think I got a pretty decent example and I'm really happy to get one at all. I'm glad they are going to offer more later for those that weren't able to get in on today's drop.

I saw the email, but was teaching during the drop and missed out. There will be more, though. Congratulations to those who scored an ironwood! They looked really nice.

I got very fortunate on the ironwood, as I had a nice one in my cart and lost it before I could finish, then went back and found an even better one that I was able to buy. :)

Hate it when they disappear from your cart, my first two disappeared. Third attempt I got a nice one, fourth attempt got a great one, my two per household limit.

Just saw the last one go. Show's over but lasted long enough for most folks to get one.

I can’t wait to see the Ironwood in hand. I have a feeling the pictures did not do them justice.

It will be nice to see the pics once the knives actually arrive, rather than the to-ing and fro-ing over the buying or missing out rituals...;):D

Thought those pics were pretty good, ironwood is tough to photograph.

Just arrived today … smitten!

I got a chuckle out of that, Joshua. "Uh, excuse me kids. I gotta buy a knife". LOL. Too funny! View attachment 996114

Seriously, I would have handed somebody some worksheets to pass out and hunkered in the corner on my phone or laptop :D

- My boot shield green bone just arrived today. Love it! Wasn’t 100% sure about the size before I got it, kinda hard to tell in pics how it’s going to feel in hand. I’m not in love with the 25’s, but really like a 15. This kind of feels like a 15 with eo notch to me, but without the awkward feel of the notch itself if that makes any sense? Anyways, I like it.
- F&F is near perfect as to be expected from GEC. No gaps, smooth transitions, even pins. The Centering was a little off out of the tube, but after a few times open and closed and a drop of oil like I always do, it seems perfect.
- I love that they went with a stiff spring, I’d call mine a 6 to half, 7 to fully open. Very pinchable too.
- Grind is again typical GEC, nice and even but not terribly sharp.
- The bone on mine varies from almost black in the middle fading out to a light green, one spot on either cover that is almost undyed in matching locations. Between the spots and the fading, the covers are well matched and very pretty.

The Green Bone looks really worth having!
It really is, green’s my favourite colour, not a cowboy but an American made knife with a cowboy boot shield just seems right. This was a great sfo and GEC really did a great job on these. F&F is near perfect, walk and talk amazing, strong spring but pinchable, nice long pull and the blade sits low so no tip poking out or almost out yet no blade rap. The sharpness on the spine where the swedge is cut doesn’t bother me so far, and if it ever does, it shouldn’t take more than 20 seconds to remedy. I think this is my favourite GEC yet.

I wasn't going to buy another #14, I was happy with my Smooth Autumn Gold Bone. But when I saw a brand new Ebony #14 pop up on the Bay, with a "Buy It Now" price below $60 shipped, I couldn't press the PURCHASE button fast enough. It arrived today and it has the darkest ebony I've seen on any of my knives, and you all know how I like ebony!!! Best bargain of the year so far...

You know, as small as our school is, most of the kids I teach know how much I love knives and would have been encouraging me to go after one during class. However, my boss would not be as enthusiastic as my students :D

The vibrant colors in this run of 14’s is really nice, and I am convinced the 14 is a better all around size than a Case Peanut.

Amber, yellow, emerald green all look amazing ...... camel bone blue and strawberry red bone are missing, but I blame that on the dealers that didnt do an SFO! Haha
