New 14 run

Couldn't help myself, these #14s are just the perfect size. So, I just purchased an antique yellow jig bone two blade #14. We will see if I like this one better than the two blade from the last run. If nothing else it looks awesome with the UN-X-LD shield.
I should have read this post before bed yesterday! Still managed to snag one, so I'm stoked.

On the first run, the pen blade was behind the master blade, on the new ones, it looks like the pen is in front. Could make a difference in whittling, we'll see I reckon.

That's what tipped the scales for me and why I decided to get it. It just had too many things that I like in a knife for me to pass it up. Like: The UN-X-LD shield is one of my favorites, I like the way GEC does Antique Yellow, the jigging is end-to-end, the fancy lined bolster, end caps, Clip main blade, and secondary in front. It's exactly how I would design a two blade jack. Even if it's not one I end up carrying, like the last run, it will look really nice displayed on the desk and be fun to play with.

Will be hard to choose.

DLT tomorrow. I can't decide which one, leaning toward snakewood and dark red. Any opinions on the best choice?
I ordered a AAPK sawcut but all the previous comments about the large shield have started me thinking that I 'm not going to like it.

You will certainly have to form your own opinion but I remember that a lot of folks thought the Spear shield on the GPK SFO was too big until they started hitting mailboxes.

I concur with John, don't let the opinions of others around here sway you. This hobby includes very specific tastes and they don't all appeal to everyone. What looks great to one might not look great to another but it is all good. For example, I find tortoise shell to be very appealing. However, a lot of folks don't.
Go for what you want and stick your tastes. I think the AAPK knife looks pretty decent actually.

I’m gonna go ahead and speak my mind here. Why in the world did DLT put me on a list to simply just stick me on a lousy drop with everybody else!! I don’t think this is good business at all, misleading as it can be!!

I tried to like the 14. The fact that the ironwood on the one I got was exquisite made it harder. But in the end, it is just too small for what I will carry, and I don't want a knife I won't carry. I hope all of you small knife guys enjoy the finish of this extensive run. It has been fun to see all of the variety--even if it has left me wishing for something bigger in the same covers!

Are you sure that's what happened? They mentioned somewhere that they took some reservations via list and then the rest via the drop.

Perry I would contact Jordan@DLT to clarify. There were limited reserves and the rest are a drop. If you were added to the early reserve you were likely also added to the GEC email list. I don't think they reserved that many from what I gather.

I enjoy the dead Skunk, small but very useful, hopefully a 15 or other will come soon with that cover. The small, unobstrusive, colorful knife is a show stealer everywhere I go!. :)

I didn't see the DS coming as one of my favorites from this entire run...but here we are :)

We took a limited amount of pre-orders, but those are now closed. They will be put up when they come in, which hopefully will be in the next week or so. We have a GEC notification list https://www.dlttrading.com/great-eastern-cutlery that will email you when they come in if you sign up for it.
Hopefully, this means if you had one on reserve, you don't have to participate in the drop.
