Honestly guys you could get a Coote or Grizzly for near the same price (shipping one of those up here to Canada would have been pricey though).
Here is a breakdown of the costs in CAN $ including shipping & border taxes:
$202 idler wheel, 9" ceramic platen liner, 4ft of link belt, mandrel, & 2 three-step pulleys
$100 10" Grizzly contact wheel
$30 machine shop charge for putting a bushing in the contact wheel so it fit the mandrel shaft, and cutting a key-way slot into the madrel shaft
$80 plywood, Gorilla glue, wood screws, hinges, bolts & nuts, spring
$145 for the 1hp motor (and it was on sale $50 less than normal)
Total was $557
If you guys still want some dimensions, or tracing of parts - let me think about it for a bit and use the grinder some more. So far all I've done is grind on the flat platen & slack belt (yet to try hollow grinding on the contact wheel). Also I'm sure there are improvement that could be made over the original design. I'm already brainstorming as to how I could have made it to incorporate a finger sized contact wheel.
Thanks for all the comments:thumbup
I'll try to get an action shot posted of it throwing sparks
