New 5160 steel 110 and 119

Badhammer, these look fantastic! Thanks for jumping in and buying these early and without question and then of course posting pictures for us to admire. I have the same two on the way. This will hold me over during the waiting game.

My two 110s arrived today. Very quick shipping as I just ordered these the end of last week!

Being a Buck 110 collector I couldn't not get these. :)

Beautiful knives. I'm enjoying the pictures and will need to get one soon. What is the lighter colored wood used on the scales?

Those look great to me! I didn't think I would like the charcoal, but that looks all right:thumbup:!

Thanks very much BH! Can't afford both right now so I went with the 119. The 110 will follow shortly afterwards.

Just finished selling some brass and aluminum that was laying around. Had enough to cover the 119 and 110 charcoal, both are inbound.

I received mine as well. They look great, though I only had a minute or two to check them out yesterday. I noticed that they are marked "custom" on the tang. Does that mean that these should have a better fit and finish, like the ones you can order from the custom shop? I don't have a custom to compare them to. I'll take a look next to a standard 110 tonight and see if I can see any differences in f&f.

Just my guess but 100 of each probably isn't a big run for the custom shop so I figure they put them together rather than run them through the regular production line so that's where the "Custom" stamp is warranted. I could be wrong but that's my best guess. As far as fit and finish goes I can't say. I have plenty of production and custom 110's with solid lockup and perfectly centered blades. In this instance the 110 blade is not centered. In general I expect more attention to detail on a custom shop model but I also recognize that some can and do slip through.

They did ship quick, I also received an unexpected surprise gift in the mail. You can't have to many 110's, I've wanted one in carbon for years, they're timeless, look great, no matter which century they were made.

Man, I couldn't believe it when I read that buck released a 110 in 5160. Now I just need to decide between oak and the charcoal.

Mine arrived! As previously mentioned, very quick delivery, the 119 is noticeably heavier than a standard model (I like that) and the blade on the Oak 110 is just off center closed but doesn't rub and locks up perfectly solid.

I do have a question about the Oak handles. Perhaps this should be a new thread, but I noticed from the pictures posted and on my new 110 that the handles on each side look quite different. Does Buck attempt to match them up?

Why does the charcoal have 4 pins in the handle while the oak has 3? So it's the lockbar pin that's hidden on the oak?

Shack, Buck does try to match the handles. Sometimes it's close other times not. On the lighter handle try rubbing a drop of boiled linseed oil on to it. This should darken it up a little.
AF, yes the oak handled model has the rocker pin hidden. DM

I received 2 of each of the 110s. These are great specimens. I got 014 and 015 in the charcoal and 013 and 026 in the oak. I'm really glad I bought these!
