New 5160 steel 110 and 119

I want a 124 in 5160, been wanting a 124 in something other than 420 HC, so Buck you can do this.

Received my 110 in bg42 yesterday and my 110 in 5160 today. The gray scales on the 42 was very good but the scales on the 5160 was better. Both sharp enough to shave your face with a little Burma shave. Shaved a little hair off back of my hand while posting this and cut myself too. Typing and testing a knife with 5160 don't mix.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows if the lockback portion of the 110 is stainless or 5160 also thanks for any information!

I would imagine it is whatever stainless is used normally, and just the blade changes materials, such as their BG-42, S30V, etc. blades do not change the lockbar to their respective steel.

If you're thinking of getting one, I'd say go for it, I got the 119, and wow. Not many carbon steel classic bucks out there!

I knew buck was going to do carbon steel but
Dugh when did they start 5160 at the custom shop?

It was a special run ordered by a vendor, if you order enough (I believe the initial was 100 each- charcoal 110, oak 110, brass/phenolic 119) they will make whatever you want, is what I was led to believe was the case, and that you can't simply request a single in any steel unless it's offered.

Hi All , I just received a charcoal 110 5160 . It is not #erd the blade is centered and looks AWSOME ! So they must have made more then a 100 ? I was wondering if anyone has forced a patina yet and if so I would like to see some pics if poss . Thanks in advance !

I believe they had the initial numbered run, then ordered more 110s without numbers.

Haven't tried to force a patina...this is a natural patina after about 30 days of use.

I'm wanting the 110. Are you fellers going to use em, or put them away? I know that will be my big delima on a knife like this. I know the simple solution would be to buy too, but I have some other projects going right now and so will probably get just one.

I'm going to use not abuse mine. I just early retired with a buyout and so while I plan on being around quite awhile, time has a way of slipping by fast. I can't see leaving them in a box for your kids if you have them or an estate sale(how many times have you seen those on ***y ?) if you don't. Now leaving used but pristine for the kids is fine.
