New Aussie dealer

4- Warranty returns
Mmmm really showing our depth (or lack of) of experience now aren't we.
Choose the top 10 knife resellers on the International market.
Send an email to each asking about their returns policies and if they offer inservice warranty conditions or RTM (return to manufacturer). Also ask who pays for the freight, I think the sellers you are so rigidly praising might surprise you with this one.
Now post the results here. If less than half of that list of 10 offers different terms to Elite Steel, I will post an apology. The only difference is that my terms are UP FRONT

(or lack of)
Have a look at New Graham, Knifeworks.com and A.G. Russells return and warranty policy. As I have only mentioned these 3, and can't be bothered with your 5 out of 10 challenge, alas I have proved my lack of depth and experience as you would call it.

Good luck with your venture. Just a suggestion - when entering an established forum site like this one, introduce yourself and your business intentions upfront and don't challenge the established members and knife enthusiast with your condescending tone and name calling.

Surely after you investigated the 3 "suspicious" threads you realised that it wasnt spam and was in fact a legitimate fledgling website. You thought I was acting as if I had an interest other than custom and spamming - I thought you were acting like a princess........FWIW.

Actually no. There was no question that it was a new site but the more posts that appeared from new members about the site the more it appeared to be spam.

Coagulation, I think you misinterpreted what I was saying about the forum registration. My suggestion is that you set it up such that non registered users can read threads only, they can't post. In order to post they'd have to register so you can still ban the flamers as you put it.

Ok, I think this thread has gone on long enough.

I've aired some opinions and I have overreacted in defense of the website. Looking back at my posts I am guilty of the same things I have acused others of.

There were some good points made in this thread about the interpretation of some of the selling points of Elite Steel and they will be used to help forge a stronger selling platform.

Condescending? It was never meant to sound that way. Purely a reflex defense reaction.

I wish you all good luck.

Ming
My wanker alarm did not go off, but my "possible internet scam" alarm did go off, so I thought I'd do an ASIC search to see if "Elite Steel" is a registered company or a registered business name in Queensland. Guess what, its not. There are the following businesses or companies registered with ASIC:
ELITE STEEL FABRICATION
ELITE STEEL FIXING
ELITE STEEL WORX PTY LIMITED
ELITE STEEL BUILDING SYSTEMS PTY LIMITED

Bailes
I would want to see a street address and phone number and a name just like Ming, particularly when the business is not even registered. If I saw those things I might assume it was a new guy setting up who just hadn't caught up with his paper work. But all I see is an anonymous website and an internet name instead of a real world one and someone promising to send some reasonably priced knives if you pay them first or provide your credit card details. I dont even get the chance to make a small purchase first to see if they are on the level, if I want to run the risk I have to outlay $200. I'd like to see more knife stores in Australia, but I'm not going to risk $200 to see if this is an internet scam or not.

Coagulation
When you insult potential customers I wouldn't expect a lot of sales. ie by saying "3- $200 Limit?? lol and you class yourselves as collectors?? hahahah" I never said I was a collector, I like to hang out in these forums because I like pocket knives. I have no need to prove to you that I have $200 or more to spend on knives. People like to buy things from people they trust, at the moment I dont trust you and you've tried to insult me.
When I deal with JD he doesn't denigrate me when I spend $40 on a KBar Dozier, he has a real world address and he has a phone number where I can talk to him and I know that he is a real person with a real name. Who do you think I will deal with in the future ? ? So endeth the lesson in how to not start a business.

I think of a place like this as a small community, not unlike my own. Someone new to town usually has to show that they are prepared to give before they are allowed to take. I can't imagine walking into the pub as, say, the new plumber in town and start asking for business. I'd have to join the local fire brigade, help out at a few busy bee's, get to know people a little before any business would start coming my way. Anyone who bustles into town full of big ideas without being prepared to 'pay their dues' is usually labelled a wanker (literally someone whose sole interest is pleasing themselves, so it's not an innacurate metaphor), hence my use of it in this thread.

I realise that I used a strong term that some may find offensive. I'd like to say I'm sorry for the insult but I'm really not that nice a person.

Otherwise, what pinpoint said about building goodwill in the early days of starting a business.

Group hug anyone?

This is the best thing to happen for consumers down under.
I have had absolutely ho hassles over half a dozen orders.
Prices are amazing.
And no, I am not connected to Elite Steel in any way.
That is a fact.
You can have your thread.
All I care about is good service and easing the load on my wallet.
I get both with Elite. More so than with ANY other Australian blade supplier and I have purchased off most over the years.
Viva the revolution!!

This is very interesting, but this isn't the forum for it.

*sniff, sniff* I smell SPAM.

hi i`m new to the knife community , i`ve bought a couple of things from elite steel and have had great service from them . they were the first place i found when i was looking at buying some knives so i went with them . if anyone can recommend somewhere where i get the same service product and price in Australia , i will gladly have a look at them as well ! cheers Matt !

Hi All,

I am new to these forums and just wanted to post some unbiased information about this dealer.
I have bought knives off quite a few local and international dealers and also some off of ebay. Of all of those purchases I can honestly say that Elite Steel has honoured all sales made with me in a more than timely fashion and always provided quality product for an incredible local price. This is alot more than I can say about some of my experiences with other sellers.
I dont want to really get involved with the mud slinging that has gone on earlier, just wanted to say that I have only had a positive experience with Elite Steel.

I do agree that for those who have never dealt with Jason from Elite Steel there is a bit of a "leap of faith" involved, however after you have taken the initial step i am sure you would not be dissapointed with the product and service he provides.

Thank you for the opportunity to share this information.

A mod calls SPAM and two more people pop up out of the woodwork to defend Elite Steel. I'm halfway around the world and the odor of SPAM is strong.

If this isn't a SPAM scam then why are the original poster and Coagulation attacking people that question them instead of just defending the business. If you want to be in business, develop thicker skin and better manners or prepare for failure.

LOCK this thread for fu<k sake's

I can buy any of the knives you have posted here in the "States"-so why bother?

WTF..........were in Australia dude, it's near impossible to obtain half the sh!t you have in the US here unless you want to be ripped blind.

Any weapon ownership in Aust is frowned upon and it's only getting worse.

No offence Apsilon? Sorry if I offended you princess by posting 2 threads (ignoring your inference that Ive used other pseudonyms as well) about the same topic. I am not affiliated in any way to Elite Steel, just stumbled across it, noticed the good prices and thought I'd pass on and share what I found. Do people who mention their fondness of other products more than once receive the same reply from you?:jerkit:

Dan

There have been dozens of occasions where posts such as yours have ended up being the dealer himself or close friends of the dealer spamming the site. That is why many react with suspicion when they see a thread like this one.

I am an Elite Steel customer and have been for some time, my post was neither aggressive nor defensive, it was just emotionless matter of fact. I am not trying to force Elite Steel down anyones throat, but since so many were happy to jump on the "rubbish waggon" without getting emotional, I thought I would try to make a sensible post.

That obviously doesnt count here, and if it does that certainly isn't the impression I get as a new forum member? Perhaps "we" should turn the mirror on ourselves before we look for negatives in others?

Thanks for Listening :)

Pinpoint - Have a look here http://xr650rules.proboards59.com/index.cgi now honestly tell me if you still think theres some sort of fraudulent activity going on?? I dont care where you spend your money, I just dont like this stigma floating over my head that I was promoting the deception/ripping off of fellow Aussies.

KV Collucci - ask Robert Hankins about Elite and see what he says.

Good post Iman61, very pertinant and well thought out. God bless the "states".

If this isn't a SPAM scam then why are the original poster and Coagulation attacking people that question them instead of just defending the business. If you want to be in business, develop thicker skin and better manners or prepare for failure.
- Prophetic
Look at it from my angle mate. New to this forum (and forums in general) I decide to try and share some knowledge with other like minded individuals (or who I thought were anyway) and get labelled as a spammer straight off the bat. I still dont see how its SPAM or anything remotely like it anyway.

This site is a good source of info on knives etc, but it is chocka block with narrow minded, opinionated w@nkers. This whole thread has come about because of other posters haste to jump to conclusions. If you dont trust something/someone - fine. Put it out of your narrow mind and get on with life, dont get all accusatory and slanderous.

In line with this area of the forums the service ES has provided me for the last 6 months since I started buying from them has been fantastic. On numerous occasions they have gone above and beyond what you would normally expect from a retailer and for that I will remain a customer for as long as I collect knives.

Needless to say should ES "stroll into my local looking for work" Id buy it a beer, introduce it to my mates and have it round to fix my shitta - because I AM a nice person.

I wonder why the phrase "small town mentality" exists??

I've tried the link but it needs a password and login. I did set up a login when this issue first came up but it no longer works, maybe I've been banned from their forum. If you've got something to say put it in clear text in a reply, ie you can cut and paste it into a rely.
I was able to open their knife store internet page and noticed that they have lowered their minimum spend to $au100, maybe they are listening to whats being said.
They might be a legitimate business, but like most people connected to the internet I am inundated with internet scam offers, and they just happened to sound like the many scammers. I'll be waiting and watching a bit more before I send them my credit card details.

Hi guys just bought my first custom a David Mosier cordwrapped Tanto . Awesome Knife , bought it thru Elite steel without trouble . i`m now looking into a Robert Hankins custom !

Thankyou Pinpoint thats the kind of reply I was expecting to start with. Ill admit that I am probably not as cynical as I should be with regard to internet sales but I have nothing but praise for these guys.

Thats the last Ill post regarding my defence.

Cheers,

Dan
