New Bark River: H&C Knife.

I want a bushcrafting knife in a convex edge. I want a BRKT and had it narrowed down to an Aurora....

I wonder what one to get now. Anyone with experience with both - input would be INVALUABLE.

The problem is that the H&C knife is not yet available.

Bark River is scheduled to make up to 50 of these knives, and Mike Stewart says they will be ready soon, but very few orders have been placed, this might be a vary rare model.

I think the timing on the production of this knife has conspired against it (dead of winter, slow economy, and right after the Christmas spending season), and if it does not sell well it will probably not be made again; my advice is to order one of these if you are interested, you can always pick up an Aurora down the line.

Talfuchre,
I am the current owner of the original Proto..the one with the 2 pins near the choil, and I also own and love a 1st production run Aurora. I have to first state that I love the Aurora..but the proto is so much like it..just smaller, that its a tough one to say which is better.
HollowDweller..the handle is slightly thinner towards the blade on my Proto..and a bit shorter, with a more rounded butt. I think you would like it.
Overall..its a winner. I love it, I havnt gotten a chance to try it out yet, other than when I participated in the original testing for Kevin. Its a great blade.
IIRC I wasnt all that fond of the smaller one..the handle was to thin for my liking. I really like the contours of the Auroras handle.

Ordered one of these today.

I do wish they offered more handle choices, but I'll be happy with the BCM.

nevermind, answered my own question...:o

Man, I really want one of these guys...but the timing just isn't ideal...

Here's an update posted by Mike Stewart this morning:

"I have not made them yet.

I am waiting for some more orders.

We will make them in about a Week.

I have everything I need to make them."
